Jerry Rice on The Ticket
-----------------------------------

He won't say it, but there is no doubt he's the GOAT when it comes to NFL WR's.

IMO, his comments in here say he doesn't agree with the way T.O. handles his bizness.

Can one of you 'T.O. lovers' send this to #81 ASAP.

You just can't post a thread with out eluding to TO. I'm beginning to wonder who has really been massaging his colon.

Get's better and better, lol.

Keep 'em coming.

Not everyone is going to agree with you man, I do find it funny that you seem to think your opinion is the only correct one though.

Jerry is complaining about things that he has done himself. You can't really complain about another guy when you did the same things and basically set the example for that guy to follow. Jerry was an amazing player, but he was an ******.

These T.O. threads are getting old though, it's gonna be a long off-season. This thread should be closed though, it was over after the 2nd post.

If you analyzed Rice's numerous interviews over the years the same way you do Owens's, you'd be able to come up with an equal number of "he threw *blank* under the bus here" incidents.
What, are you 16 or something. The interviews do not compare. Jerry Rice was one of the classiest football players in the NFL. You either were too young to see it or you are just a HOMER!

Just for clarification.

In your opinion, Terrell Owens has been a better wide receiver than Jerry Rice ever was.

Just curious.

I'm saying, in overall makeup, that T.O. is a better receiver. I'm not saying he has been, because if he was he would be very close to passing Jerry right now, but being that when he came into the league there was a few years that he sat behind Jerry and Taylor/Stokes, when Taylor left T.O. started moving Stokes out of the way, but Jerry was still the number one option, and then when Jerry was let go, T.O. became number one, so for a few years, T.O. was the 3rd/4th receiver and therefore that took away from stats he may have had if he was the starter right from the start like Rice was, may have taken alot of Rice's receptions, yards and Tds away.

No, no, no. I was only asking if your opinion was that Owens is a better receiver than Rice was. Stats, etc., is really irrelevant. Your answer is, "T.O. is a better receiver". Good enough. Thanks.

I'm not sure we have a lot of TO lovers. I admire his game, think the media stirs the pot much more than he does, and he's necessary at present for this offense. But I don't love him and I don't like his handling of the media. He should be much quieter. After a year or so the TO talk would slow way down but then I don't see him liking that much. I'd bet 30-40% of the people here are in that camp.

And who can forget the Jerry Rice tantrum when his streak of games with a catch came to an end?

Threw his helmet on the ground....it bounced over the players bench....yelled in frustration, sat down on the bench...got up, yelled some more, sat down again....yep team first player all the way.

Actually, I have no problem with a player getting frustrated....be it Rice or T.O.....that is just what athletes that believe in themselves being a vital part of a team do. Some do it in public, others do it in the locker room. It doesn't matter WHERE it's done, the act is the same....some people, fans mainly, freak out when a player does it on the field....get over it.

The guy STILL takes two defenders away...it's up to the OC to devise plays taking advantage of that and it is up to the players to execute it.

Just finished listening to the Lunchbreak guys in Dallas, today was about T.O..
One of them,( I think it was Josh) he said that in the Arizona game, when the ball was fumbled and it was right by Gurodes feet and he did not see it, well Gurode said that the clip that Fox showed T.O. supposedly yelling at him, did not happen after that play, Josh said that Gurode said it when T.O. was caught talking to him it was on an earlier series when they went 3 and out, because the Ol did not hold up, anyway he said Gurode said that T.O. told him that those are you guys you get them together, (talking bout the OL).

The reason I posted, this is to show how the media, cuts, and twists and turn things around to make T.O. out to be a bad teammate/Cancer.

He has a past, everyone does. But to continue to dog a person about things he has admitted he made mistakes in the past is assinine.

And therefore that is the reason why, some people who really did not like T.O. from the start, now likes him because he is constantly getting a raw deal from the media.
Look the guy will not back, he has a strong personality, will and he is determined, and speaking form experience(because I am the same way) if you keep attacking him he will continue stand strong in his convictions, beliefs, that is not a way to get through to a strong person.

I'm not saying you have to coddle him, but you have to be understanding to how he feels and what he believes, and even if you do not understand at least show that you are trying and not holding the guy's past over his head.

Sorry, but I always have to go in debt, so that a person can understand where I am coming from, and that was a very abbreviated version.

Clueless.

My opinion? How about Terrell Owens opinion? lol.

He would even tell you Jerry Rice is the better WR any day of the week and so would anyone with a lick of football knowledge.

Jerry isn't complaining either. He was asked a question and he answered it.

And when did he do the same things T.O. does like go after his QB and OC when things arent' going well? A few references to him being frustrated as he walks off the field or when he gets into the locker room are now the same as sitting down on a Tuesday after a win to bash his OC?

Madness.

Just because Rice was a diva doesn't mean he was a divisive force on his teams. Where is the interviews where he goes after Montana or Young? Where is the interview with Deion where he says the offensive system he plays in stinks?

All this reaching in trying to say Owens is doing what Rice did back in the day is pathetic.

It's just more fodder on how blind the 'T.O. Fan Club' really is these days.

You guys find anything to try and fall back on in defending him as if he's a man who has no faults when in reality he has many as a football player and a teammate.

And last I checked he admits it, but the fact that his fans won't is nothing short of idiotic.

How about I post about what's news.

And why do we need a colon massaging reference? It's corny and weird.

And you said it like you know a certain someone has been doing it, but now you are wondering if it's me or that person who has been doing it.

And I know you didn't even realize that's how it sounded by the way you wrote it. lol.

It's easy to form an opinion on someone who sits in front of a camera and answers questions. We don't need the media to make anything up, we get it straight from the horse's *** himself.

So he screws up in the past and we forgive him. And I did for a long time.

Then he starts acting like a fool again and we are supposed to skip the apology part this time?

There was this...

http://static.espn.go.com/nfl/s/991123rice.html

"I don't know what's going on. I would like to help more. I would like to see more opportunities, and I'm not seeing any. I'm just running downfield. If that's the game plan, let me know. I've had a lot of success over the years, and I feel I deserve to have at least a few opportunities."

Doesn't that seem like a familiar quote? There's nothing wrong with it...unless Terrell Owens says it, of course.

Then there was this, after the 49ers won a game against the Saints 31-20 in 1998:

http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpa...&sq=49ers 31 New Orleans 20 Jerry Rice&st=cse

''I just work here,'' he said after the game. ''If nothing is asked of me, I guess I'm not going to do much. If you ask me if I'm having a good time, no. Is this something that might make you retire? Hell, yes. All I know is I'm not having a good time. Maybe it's time to move on.''

Now you want to talk about selfish?

I'm joining the party late here, but I've tried to catch up. First, I think Jordan does a good job presenting the fact that Rice had a lot of whiney, selfish moments that simply are not remembered. Secondly, I don't understand how a retort to his presentation was a who's-better-Rice-or-Owens question. Duh, Rice was better. Next?

Some of the stuff Owens did earlier in his career was utterly indefensible. Even though I think McNabb shared quite a bit in the childish stuff in Philly, Owens undoubtedly played the leading role. And the way he treated Garcia was something you'd expect of a 5-year-old.

Frankly, though, I don't think his public comments here have been that bad, especially this season. There's a few times he'll say something that makes you cringe ("ask the person calling the plays;" "I don't know. I'm not the one throwing the ball;" "I was doing my job. I was open;" "I want the ball more"). But I don't think any of those comments were so over the line that he deserved to be cut.

The one and only thing that continues to scare me about Owens is what goes on behind the scenes. You know, the stuff we don't know about and the stuff the media may only know a little about. Is he in the locker room intentionally drawing a line down the middle of the room? Is he campaigning to players that Romo and Witten are ganging up on him? Is he creating a sentiment of the room to begrudge other players?

That -- not his harmless comments publicly -- is what concerns me. If those things are going on, I think he's undoubtedly a divisive force that might need to be eliminated from the roster. You can't have that in a locker room. But if it's not, or at least no more so than any other player is doing, I have no problem really with the way he's conducted himself here the past 20 months or so.

dcfanatic gets owned as usual and of course he can't admit it. Look you are comparing the #1 and #2 recievers in the game, there is really not to much difference between them. I am sure if TO played till he was 44 he would come close to Rice's records. I am not saying he would pass him, but it would be very close. Give it up and go away.

Therein lies the question. Do we have any proof that it has been going on? Some here appear to have police records, fingerprints, breath samples.. the whole nine... Silliness.
