JJT: Romo and Newman are not stars

By dcfanatic,

Here's Jean Jacques Taylor on with Norm Hitzges today...

JJT talks Cowboys with Norm

I know sometimes we read JJT's work and listen to him and it's obvious he's just looking to point out a negative so it creates a little buzz.

But these days I think it's more about him saying what's the reality and some fans not wanting to hear it.

Do I agree with everything he says? No. But I do agree that Terence Newman isn't a star CB any longer if he ever was one. And to be clear I am saying that Newman isn't a top ten CB in the NFL any longer.

I also agree with JJT about this coaching staff always trying to avoid hurting players feelings by not making clear cut decisions. There is no need to beat around the bush with the fans, the media or the players. Just be straight up about things and let the chips fall where they may.

You might could argue about Romo's "potential" but Newman has always been overated by our fanbase.

There. I said it. :)

Newman, I understand. How is Romo not a star?

I see the trendy thing to do now diminish what Romo has done thus far and turn a blind eye to his potential.

His star may have dimmed since his thumb injury but he is far from the average, game managing QB.

The guy is a beast and beast status does not make one immune to a bad game here and there. It happens to the best of em. Look it up if you're unsure...

Well when romo plays confident and good he's as good as any Qb in the NFL. I'm a huge Romo critic but He is a star QB. Just has some issues He needs to work out.

Newman...I've always said He's overrated.

JJT is not a professional journalist....

Just a hack trying to build his name up enough to make it on TV one day.

I won't deny I can't stand the guy. His "Truth" is him being a drama queen but it's good he has fans I guess.
I rarely read DMN anymore because he's annoying. I prefer Calvin Watkins, I get the news without jjt's ******** spin.

As I recall, in JJT's last article, he stated that Romo was a "great" quarterback, and that Romo's greatness was the reason JJT had been so critical of him.

There's a logical disconnect somewhere.

Romo could be a great top QB, Newman has always been a pretender.

Newman was great in his prime, but it's hard to argue that he's still in his prime nowadays.

I remember he once went 20+ games without allowing a single TD... if that's not "great", I don't know what is.

Romo? If he's not great already, he'll get there. Ability + work ethic = results.

With Newman, I feel like hes lost a step and I'm trying to figure out if its because he has not been able to fully come back from injuries or is it because hes just not that good anymore?

With Romo, I dont consider him great right now, but he shows flashes of stardom and I believe he will get there eventually-like hopefully this season.

Yeah there is.

I think it exists somewhere between what he really thinks and what he knows will get attention.

Saying what he really thinks about Romo doesn't get people to notice him where as saying what riles people up does.

This.

He's not what he once was, but it's amazing how ignorant some of you are.

Should we expect another novel from JJT justifying his stance?

Next.

I have been a basher on all elements of the Cowboys team. Let me say this, 95% of this team lacks confidence due to the style of coaching we currently have.

Our Head coach can't even speak without a few mumbling(s). Our Offensive Coordinator never speaks (why not?), and we sure as heck don't have Joe Avezanno (I hope I spelled that right) anymore on special teams. Romo would kick some serious Booty, given the right situation.
