And who is gonna give up their legit rusher in a trade? For what, a 4th round pick at most. Doubt Jerry trades anything higher. Trades during the season rarely if ever happen.

I agree trades are rare. I also can't remember many in season trades being of great value to a team within that same season. When was the last time a team traded for a player during a season and that team got significantly better that same season?

We could use an improved pass rush but talk about being unlucky. How many almost sacks do we have this year?

its just a lack of talent, you dont need need great speed to get sacks but you should have great initial burst,Lawrence has it and its unfortunate he is injured.

I don't forsee the DE situation having a chance at being semi-fixed until after next offseason (draft & free agency).

At this point it's just going to have to limp along.

I think we're getting pressure but not sacks. The pass rush isn't a strength right now, but its not a glaring weakness either. Lawrence is the real hope this year.

For people wanting Sam right now and assuming he's better then what they have active right now, I'll defer to Rod Marinelli over your opinion of a guy you have NEVER seen in the NFL outside of preseason on another team. If you really question Rod's ability to gauge defensive linemen I question if you've been paying attention for the last 2 years.

I wish we had better DEs, but for now, this beats what we had on the DL before. Yes, Ware got sacks, but we also saw QBs stepping up, DEs running around behind them, and QBs literally standing on their spot surveying the field until the coverage broke down last year. This year we don't have crap at DE who can get off blocks and finish sacks, but the other guys are pushing the pocket back for the first time in years, creating pressure, making QBs move off their spots. It's not great, but I don't see QBs taking the time they had last year. That's a start. We need to be active in FA in targeting DL, along with the draft.

We can't afford a Big FA anything, bum luck on our 2nd rounder getting hurt early...
