Are there any D-back fans here? I know it's a tall order but I thought I would ask

You betcha James. I am happy with them right now. Think the Rockies will cool down? I think so, and it's called pitching.

I think if we win the first 2, we will win for sure. They are an above average team that is on a hot streak just like we were 2 months ago. If we take away 2 games, we will end that streak and take away their momentum. However, if they take one of the first two, I think we will lose because their ballpark favors their strong hitters.

You going to go to any of the games?

Yeah, I'm going to the game on Friday with my wife.
I may go tomorrow night. Will make up my mind in the morning. I will definitely be going to a Series game if they beat the Rockies. I'd like to see them play the Indians because they used to hold their Spring Training here in Tucson. D-backs and Rockies both do now, as do the White Sox. I'm kind of loyal to that.

Who are the Diamondbacks?
They're a team thats won as many championships in the past 101 years as the Cubs.

Laugh at baseball all you want, but it's one of the most analyzed and statistical sport out there, plus it's got one of the most loyal fan bases out there.

Seems like the D'Backs need all the fans they can get. How do you not sell out during the LCS?? Even the Marlins could do that.

I'd mention the Spurs having lackluster fan support in their first few homes games in the WCF last year, but at least they are expected to be there year in and year out. The D'Backs have no excuse.

Is that true? I was under the impression it did sell out. I know a lot of people that wanted to go who had trouble getting tickets. They were easily selling out games prior to the start of the playoffs so I find that hard to believe.

I'm going to defend the fans in Phoenix because they take a lot of abuse from people who really don't know or understand this city. Phoenix is a lot like Los Angelas. 40% of the population was not even born in Arizona. And among the younger population, that percentage can be higher. When you meet people here, you automatically assume they are from some other state. And when they respond they are from here, it's always a shock and we call the "natives" because it seems like they are a rare breed. It's a transient city meaning people move here from somewhere else so they are already fans of other teams when they move here. That's why there are so many Bears, Packers and Cowboys fans in Phoenix. We all try to follow the local teams too but it's not the same as if you grew up watching this team or if you are a native and didn't follow any other team. There are so many Diamondback fans that are also fans of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Cubs, the Yankees and the Redsox. People are generally not going to take off work to see them play which is why yesterdays game may not have sold out but you will see that our weekend games are packed. It's going to take time to develop the rabid fan base that's found in other cities because there aren't enough natives here. My kids will probably follow the local teams first...(Cowboys are the exception :) )

My wife is from Phoenix, they looooove the Suns and the Sun Devils, love baseball (But as Jameswoods mentioned most are out of state so there are a ton of Cubs/Giants fans there) and when it comes to the Cardinals everyone responds the same "They and Bidwell suck!"

What sucks about the Rockies winning round 1 is that there are now only 2 teams never to have won a playoff series, Tampa Bay and my avatar :(

They probably did end up selling the games out with walk-up ticket sales. This was a story 24 hours before Game 1, and there were 4,000 and 6,000 left for the two games.

The disbelief comes from the fact that there were tickets left the day of the game. For a big playoff series that shouldn't happen. It kind of makes sense what you say about the Phoenix area, but this city has seen a world series champion before. They should have a pretty decent fanbase.

The Rockies should be the team having these problems since they only last week won their first playoff series ever.

It's just a little disappointing.

BTW... How's the weather supposed to be in Denver? The D'Backs look like they need some good weather to jump start their offense. If it's cold that hitters' ballpark may turn into something entirely different.

LOL, too bad its the Colorado pitching that is doing the cooling down of the Diamond Backs. As a Colorado native its pretty amazing that the Rockies are finally going to go to the World Series. Never thought I would see this day.

I have to give it up to the Rockies. It's not that we are playing bad but the Rockies are just playing that good. I was at Game 2 and we usually win those games but the Rockies just pitched really well and played great really defense. And yes, our fans are sad for not selling out the NLCS.
