B. Jones - what are your expectations?

Jones is coming off a relatively impressive rookie season, Imo..showed a ton of versatility...played basically everywhere in the secondary..very smart kid...appears that he's moving to FS full time..what are your expectations for him for this season and why?

Do you think this guy will turn out to be a ball hawk at FS?

I don't think he's ever been a ballhawk. I see him as a solid player, but nothing special. His freak athleticism doesn't show up on the field. I see him more as a strong safety who will play in the box and cover tight ends, where he excelled last year.

This is kind of where I am and it's a bit worrisome...it's worrisome because we are in desperate need of him to be more than that..

I agree. I would love to see him make a bunch of interceptions but I just don't see him doing that. Regardless, He's an upgrade at either safety position to me

I think he'll ultimately be a long term solution for us at FS. He has the athleticism, and he seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

I predict he has a very good 2016 season.

They only thing holding BJones back is our anemic pass rush. He will thrive if the Defense as a team plays well.

I think he's going to have a huge year. He looked comfortable being lined up everywhere last year. 2nd year will be a big jump

I just don't think he plays all that well in open space and I don't think he has ever been described as a ballhawk. I think a move to FS is a mistake. I would keep him at SS close to the action. Maybe having a set position and not moving around will help him out.

I dont see him physical enough to play in the box as a SS, I think he is in his correct position as a FS

That's what I envision too and want to see some improvement relating to his tackling. He has the head and the speed/athleticism to be a great FS and think year two will be a great jump for him.

I'm afraid Jones may be a workout warrior. I'm not sure what others saw in his 'impressive rookie season'; I didn't see much. Especially for a 1st round pick, I don't think he's that special. I do like his smarts/leadership, and I think his build and athleticism should make for a really, really good FS. Remaining optimistic.
