The only trade I have ever really seen as possible was Roy Williams, but I admit I bought into the Anquan Bolden stuff because the media pushed it. Frankly I'm not shocked Arizona says they aren't interested in trading him. Maybe they still will. I don't know.Avenging Hayseed;2047725 said:For the record........Im ALL FOR trading for a guy like Roy Williams or Anquan Boldin. I would be elated. My question is........WHAT makes those two trade scenarios possible, but a Steve Smith trade impossible? Do Detroit and Arizona care less about winning? Does Carolina care more? I dont think so.
I do not see Chad Johnson getting traded because of the cap hit. I could see it after June 1 so it can be spread over 2 seasons, but right now...I don't see it and have said so for as long as the speculation has been out there.
Roy Williams is a completely different situation. He's in the final year of his contract which means Detroit's options are limited. If they want to keep him they have to pay him like a top 5 WR in the NFL and he's not. I like the kid, but he's not top 5. If they want to get something for him they have to trade him. Keeping him does not make sense.
I have backed off that belief because of the market price. No other reason. It could still happen but I'd be shocked if it does.
If I were Carolina I would not trade Steve Smith because he's not in the final year of his contract, not demanding a trade or a new contract, and he's productive.
