It was a mistake the way we handled DM. Lets say Romo and Dez didn't go down. We still weren't the team we were in 2014.....

It was a mistake...........

The actions of the FO, by signing Morris, drafting one 4TH over all and picking up another RB later on in Jackson...................should tell ya, they even themselves recognize the mistake. It was a mistake and they are trying to correct it. And they did exactly like.

I loved the Morris signing. Absolutely loved it. Then they go and get EE..... Are you kidding me??

Im back on the SB train baby. Okay , maybe the playoff train for now.

But one thing we can deduce from all of this.. Were going to Run that football. 3rd and 4/5? We just might run the damn thing....

I am in heaven and excited about the upcoming season.

I hope we get a better BU QB, get a few wins if Romo is out for 4 or 5......But, Im thinking playoffs this year.

I disagree. I think if Wentz or Goff is there they take them at #4 over Elliot. Morris was a backup plan if we miss out on a running back later in this draft.

And how did they mishandle Murray when he was terrible last season? Then you guys will say it's the system but goodness you pay all that money for a running back that can only play in one system?

I don't really care what Babe thinks. I still hate the pick. Love Zeke and can't wait to see him in action but #4 on a RB was/is too high.

Why does it matter where he was drafted if you liked the pick? Anyone there would've been a teach except Tunsil and we didn't need him.

Curious...of all those who say we over drafted, didn't like the pick...what would you complain about if Ramsey was picked...I think it would be over paying for a DB at #4, for a player who had 3 picks in his last 40 games.

Or would you complain that we didn't pick Zeke? Or that another team got great value at #5, but we didn't at #4 with the same player?

Oh, he's a home run back now? Hey, if he can make the big plays of a receiver, I'm all for it. Those backs are rare, though. Let's see him suit up, first.

You know those 40-yard runs of Demarco Murray? Those are 70-yard touchdowns now. And you can kiss the fumbles goodbye, too.

Elliott eliminates the holding calls, false starts, tipped balls for interceptions, and bone-jarring hits on Romo that resulted from Murray (and McFadden) not being able to finish runs. He shortens the game for the offense.

Home run guys eliminate unnecessary plays from scrimmage where stuff can go wrong.

Or maybe we just wouldn't complain because we thought it was a better pick?

And yet somehow I suspect if we had picked Ramsey it would be him being anointed as the next Deion headed for the HOF here and Elliot would be just another RB who was nothing special.

Hey, if that's the case, that's great. I think you're probably overestimating the impact on penalties and tipped balls, but we don't really know right now. The three things I like best about the EE pick are the pass blocking, the fumble rate, and the route running. I'm probably as stoked as you are about that part of his game.

I think, if anything, I'm UNDERESTIMATING the impact of that. This guy is a touchdown scoring machine.

Consider this very common occurrence in football:

Scenario A:
Cowboys on the Commanders 30. Murray/McFadden hand-off right, breaks free, caught from behind by DeAngelo Hall at the 8-yard line. 1st and goal, false start Doug Free. 1st and goal at the 13. Romo to Witten over the middle to the 8 yard line. 2nd down, Murray/McFadden up the middle to the 4-yard line. 3rd down, pass to Dez to the three-inch line, but holding on Tyron Smith is accepted. 3rd and goal on the 14. Romo sacked hard on a safety blitz and a bit shaken up. He's OK. Dan Bailey 37 yard field goal.

Scenario B:
Cowboys on the Commanders 30. Elliott hand-off right, breaks free and outruns DeAngelo Hall for a touchdown.

That can happen multiple times in a season.

I'm not really going to debate with you which hypothetical situations may or may not happen. Like I said, it's great if the guy makes big plays in the running game at a rate exponentially higher than other backs, it's a win for us. If he doesn't, just let him hold onto the football, pass protect, and be another weapon for Tony. I think there's a high likelihood he does at least one of those two, in which case I'll be content with the pick.

That is the one thing after every game that always stands out to me. It's the points left on the field because of this penalty or that drop or that missed block in pass protection. How many drives do you see just fizzle out at the 10-yard line? Or the first downs that could have been had if a guy cut left instead of right?

Guys that maximize plays make so much of that just vanish because it eliminates plays from scrimmage.

Only the special ones do it.
