Chase Daniels is a guy who will be lucky if he finds himself on a practice squad after Final Cuts.

Maybe so then again maybe not. I know he had a bad season this past year I also know he has had some very good seasons as well at Missouri. I would not think Dallas will use a draft pick early on a QB however day 2 of the draft I think there are prospect out there worth getting and Daniels in my view would be one. Hell Cassell last game before the Pro was High school as he was a backup in college so you never know what you may get and in day 2 that is the time to take more of a risk

Im not even judging him on his bad season.

Im judging him on his talent alone. He just doesn't have the phyiscal abilities to play at this level.

He is also a guy that will have to work for at least 2 years on his drop back passing and getting under center.

What's the status on Alex Smith in SF? He's someone with physical tools, starting experience, and he had a good year under Turner in a similar offense.

Personally I would love to have either Chris Simms or David Carr. But if we are looking to the draft for a possible QB to groom as a replacement. I would really love to see Sam Bradford or even Colt McCoy in the 2010 draft

and other scouts feel different about his ability. I would agree he is not a guy who will be able to come to the NFL and start early on but many scouts do feel he has the physical ability to play at this level.

I would love to see where an NFL Scout said this and I would bet on draft day he is a 6th or 7th rounder at best.

My guess is undfrated.

5'9 Quarterbacks who have played in the spread offense their entire career don't exactly make it in the league.

This is the guy I would probably think about signing. He won't be your franchise guy but he has experience and he's still young enough to provide good playing time if needed. He also has very simular skills to Romo so you would not really have to change the offense much. I think that would be a good move.

he is listed at 6'01" and as I said a guy who could go in day 2 of the draft.

Pros: His ability to find passing lanes despite his lack of ideal height reminds me a lot of Drew Brees. He has a very accurate arm, and can make most of the throws an NFL quarterback needs to make. Is very desisive. Makes quicks decisions and they are usually the right ones.
Cons: Lacks ideal height for an NFL quarterback. His arm is not that strong. Must learn to take snaps from under center and work on a dropback.
Overall: Daniel can be a solid quarterback in the NFL if he can learn to take snaps from under center. Like Brees, he will overcome his lack of size with smarts

Chase Daniel Scouting Report by PROBOWL
Pros: Very accurate and on-time thrower. Puts up very impressive numbers. Knows how to lead a team from the bottom to the top. Has good scrammbling ability.
Cons: Only 6'1. His hieght will hurt him in the eyes of NFL scouts. Operates in a 90% passing offense.
Overall: Daniel is high on the 2009 Heisman list. Colt Brennan's success in the NFL might serve some benefit to Chase Daniel. Proving that he isn't just a "system quarterback". Has great 1st round attributes.

Get rid of both Bollinger and Johnson.I could see the Beck trade
being a possibility.

I concur, Alex Smith would be first on my list to acquire if the Niners waive him.

Other backup QBs that would fit this system: Todd Collins (Colt Brennan may supplant him) and Byron Leftwich (once Charlie Batch recovers)

I also like the idea of the poster who is advocating the release of QB coach Wade "who?" Wilson.

I disagree, having a drafted back up QB like Matt Cassel sure would have been nice to have this year.
Yea, it would be nice. But when guys like Chris Simms become available every year, you don't NEED to draft one. Being in the position to groom one is a luxury not every team has.

He's 6'1 today. The combine will shrink him like alot of other players.

He was below 6 foot before the 2007 season.

He doesn't have a great arm.

Has never ran a pro style offense.

If he makes an NFL roster i'll be impressed.

Q: So you’re all grown up to 6 feet tall now. That’s a new development?

A: Yep, it’s a new development for the off-season. I measured at 6 feet tall.

Q: Chad Moller (the athletic department’s media relations director) listed you at 6-1 last year. So you’ve shrunk?

A: That was just for the media guide. But now I’m definitely 6 foot.

Q: Why is that a big deal for you?

A: It’s not a huge deal now, obviously. But if you’re looking forward to playing at the next level, then it’s obviously good to be a
6-foot tall guy. When they look at it,
5-11¾ sounds so much worse than
6 foot.

As I said I'm not talking about a day 1 pick I'm not building Daniels into a super star but I do think he is a guy who can be groomed and develop into a good QB and I think there are others who could be looked at in day 2. I sure as heck do not expect Dallas to go out and grab a QB in the 2nd rd or trade up to get a guy like Sam Bradford. When you are talking day 2 of the draft 5th to 7th rd draft choices these are QB's who are looked at as projects that have some raw talent. I don't know if Daniels will make it hell I have seen more 1st draft picks at QB turn into major bust so you really never know especially at a position like QB
