As I said somewhere else here, it appears right now at least that Wade is the frontrunner. HC is a huge question worth talking about, but the problem I don't hear anyone talking about is the effect this has on the draft. Dig on Bill all you want, he helped this team draft way better since his arrival. Are we going back to wasted picks?

I believe there is still room for improvement in the drafting area, and I'm looking foward to it.

I expect a lot more Kavika Pittmans, Shante Carvers, Q-Cars to be drafted.

Let the guillotine go. I don't deserve to return to the post Jimmy Johnson days...

Compare them to other teams and they were actually very good.

Plus Rookie Free Agents... Guy was great during the draft.

Really? Who's gonna improve it? BP might have wasted some lower picks on kick returners, etc, but he seemed to make the high picks count. Jerry was almost the opposite. Maybe Jerry should try to hire Ron Wolf finally as a full time employee?

I would expect that Jones, Jeff Ireland and who ever the new HC to all be involved in the draft.

Jeff Ireland seems like a level headed, talented and well respected scouting director...as long as they listen to him and his staff, they will be fine

I honestly doubt we'll ever see something like 1995 again

guess he gets no credit either for pulling rank and insisting on Ware at 11 instead of Spears, right?

I think we have one of the next great NFL GM's in Jeff Ireland.

He may go for the title of being named a GM by some other team but he is the guy who does all the scouting and has learned a lot from Parcells.

Im just worried about Jerry's faith in him and if Jerry will try to do his own thing or if he will go with what Ireland tells him.

LOL, you have no idea what you're talking about!

  • Demarcus Ware
  • Marcus Spears
  • Kevin Burnett
  • Marion Barber
  • Jay Ratliff
  • Julius Jones
  • Chris Canty
  • Patrick Crayton
  • Terence Newman
  • Jason Witten
  • Bradie James
  • Nathan Jones
  • Rob Petitti

These players were either starters, or carried a prominent role during games. These are just the players he drafted. It doesn't include the players he brought in like Jason Ferguson, Terry Glenn, Anthony Henry, Aarron Glenn, Tyson Thompson, and several others.

The team today vs the day he took over is completely different. He made this team 10 times better than the garbage that was on the field 4 years ago. He did most of it through the draft. You my friend; are extremely confused.

No we will have better drafts upcoming because Ireland will be unencumbered by stuff like:

1. Having to take a tight end every draft because of Bill's penchant, e.g. taking Fasano in the 2nd round when you already have a Pro Bowl TE.

2. Taking sons of former players, jury's still out on Carpenter ...

3. Bill had a hand in J. Rogers and Peterman, right?

I agree - J. Ireland seems to be a very valuable talent evaluator. Unlike that knucklehead Lacewell we had running the show with Jerry for years...

He was moving to a two TE offense. For that you kinda need two TEs. I thought it was an obvious move...

I think he is going to end up being a very good LBer.

Are you saying that a guy can't draft good unless he pulls an ace out everytime? You remind me of Al Davis. ;)

Actually he said we better not miss spears...I am almost positive he was the one wigging out thinking we should have taken spears first.

I know they tried to trade up multiple times to get him.

Actually, the player that Jones coveted and said that he wouldn't be happy if we missed out on was Canty. Not Spears or Ware. Actually the Spears Ware thing wasn't an issue. It was either Ware or Merriman. The Boys were pretty sure that Spears would be there on their next pick (evaluating the needs of teams before them). Parcells took Marion Barber III early in the 4th round, foregoing Canty until later in the round. Jones later said that he would not have been a happy camper if they had missed out on Canty by gambling on his availablilty. They picked in the nick of time. At the 132 spot Dallas was one pick ahead of New England. Canty was Belichek's target. Dallas took Canty and New England took SS James Sanders.

I never thought he did a very good job with drafting anyway. The only year that I thought was good was 2003 and that wasn't so stellar. The drafts were always better than average but not amazing- I was always mad on the first pick except for the Newman pick and last year I didn't even care (though the Fasano pick was a head scratcher)- now that he's gone maybe I'll care a bit more-depends on what kind of dog turd Jerruh hires.

Get off that train man Carp is good like legit good. He started to play very very well when he adjusted to the speed of the pros i am more excited about him than any other defensive player next year. He is gonna be an asset. and he showed so the last two games of the year.
