Bands you don't like...

Taking the reverse tact of the favorite music/artist post, are there any bands you can't stand and just wonder why they're even popular?

I don't get the U2 love fest. A 20+ year career and maybe 4-5 good songs, and they're sold like the second coming of musical genius. They're not a great band for musical talent, (much like Kiss, but at least they had a funny schtick) and they're songs are lame.

Bon Jovi. Bon Jovi[/]??? ***? 'Nuff said.
Any others? I know I have some but the wife is calling...

Anything Nu-Metal. System of a Down (they were cool ten years ago, now they suck). Any band signing something about "the nookie" or "letting the bodies hit the floor". The twelve thousand bands that employ lead singers that mimic Eddie Vedder's voice. Pretty much anything top 40 post 2002. "New" Gangster rap....post 2001. Anything that has disgraced what used to be country music...i.e. anything on CMT.

I also can't stand:

1. Linken Park
2. Every single band that is emo sounding.
3. SlipKnot
4. Limp Biscuit
5. Kanye West (even though I kind of like his Daft Punk cover)
6. I know I'm going to get hell for this but...Nirvana. Only because they took all the glory from Alice In Chains
7. Avenged Sevenfold
8. Papa Roach
9. P.O.D

I could go on but you get the point. I really hate the current music scene other then a few bands.

What's funny is, I probably couldn't even indentify anything by the first three on your list. I know the names very well, but, whatever they wasted plastic on, I'm clueless.

The Ramones aren't so offensive, just 3 chord knuckleheads having fun.
But I don't hate them for it.

I feel the same way about the Nirvana/Alice in Chains thing. I don't mind Nirvana, but AIC was so much better and for some reason not as popular.

Your list is full of the same crap I never liked, either..., though Death Cab for Cutie is somewhat EMO, but I like it.

i never thought i would agree with you on a music topic but what do you know never heard the sex pistols or the ramones. I like a few marilyn manson songs but never gave the time to listen to one of there albums.

I hate anyone that screams into the mic like Mushroomhead, Slipknot, that kind of crap.

Here are some performers I just don't get:


-- Garth Brooks (the Brett Favre of country music .. combines goofyness with fake emotion)

-- Gretchen Wilson (not into redneck girls)

-- Sugarland (much like Wilson, too honky tonk and hick-sounding for me).

-- Peter Gabriel (Sledgehammer is a brutal)

-- The Who (I actually like The Guess Who a lot better)

-- George Michael and/or Wham!

-- Tina Turner (just awful)

I am going to get slammed big time for this. But I have never been a HUGE fan of Led Zepplin. I don't hate them. But I dont understand why they are constantly voted as best rock band ever.

And to Chief, how can you not like The Redneck Woman.....come on! lol

Well, you and me both, because I can go the rest of my life and never hear another Zeppelin tune and I'd be fine with that. Over played and over done.

Quite a few 'Classic Rock' bands I really can't stomach anymore. Floyd and Aerosmith come quickly to mind. I don't ever need to hear 'Walk this way' or 'Dream on' ever again.

Funny I was just listening to Sublime a bit earlier, too.
It's all in what you like... but I do think U2 is musically inept, for the most part.

U2 is possibly the best live band ever, and I've seen em all. Only one close is the Stones.

Lynrd Skynrd - Besides maybe one or two songs they just bore me. Prefer the Allman bros over them ANY day.

Here comes the blasphemey...The Eagles - Similar to Lynrd Skynrd for me. Besides a couple songs I just don't care for them much. Which is odd as I liked Joe Walsh and Henley with their solo stuff.

Nirvana - like others I don't mind them, actually liked that first one, but for me AIC was much better and I actually liked Sound Garden much better as well.


About any of the teenage bubble gum bands of the last few years (boy bands or solo girls singing boring pre packaged bull).

Most nu-metal I have heard.
