Not even 24 hours into free agency and we hear about all of these teams signing guys already and guys getting traded and players making visits, but, Our two top guys left Barber and Canty, have not been reported to be visiting anyone nor have they said anything themselves.

I don't know what that means, just thought it was a bit odd.

Of course I haven't heard or read anything about Michael Turner going anwhere either, so.

Means that teams don't want to lose 1st round picks....

Means dallas probably won't have to pay as much for those guys.....good news IMO.

Jerry would lose all credibility as an owner, but especially what credibility he has as a GM if Marion Barber was to leave Dallas. Marion leaving Dallas would haunt Jerry the rest of his tenure as the owner/GM. Fans would never let him live such a move down.

Jerry knows it's in his best interest to lock up Marion Barber. Heck, Jerry in not so many words has touted Marion as a franchise RB. A guy who can carry the load.

Now, all Jerry needs to do is to get Stephen to work out a contract with Marion and Drew Rosenhaus, then decide to draft a complimentary RB, preferrably in the first or second round to keep Marion fresh in the 4th quarter.

Uh, 'cause they're RFA and no one wants to give up a 1 for either. And what's the deal with the term "Mediots?" -- since I'm one of them, actually. ;)

I did. Because the majority of mediots were so certain that Barber and Canty would go elsewhere, probably to Miami, because according to the majority of mediots Parcells has the jedi mind trick on Jerry and Jerry has an undeniable mancrush on former Arkansas players (even though Dallas hasn't drafted an Arkansas player since 1970).

Instead of using some logic and rational along with doing some research and having quality sources, they'd rather speculate as to what makes for a good headline/soundbyte and claim it's the truth.

I agree. If Jones loses Barber it would be as about as big of a blunder as the Galloway deal. Just one of those things Jerry would never live down among the majority of the fan base.

All it could mean is that no one is going to offer them a contract when Dallas still has money to match it.

Usually, you see more movement on tendered RFAs closer to the deadline for offering them a contract, so you can better gauge if the other team can match.

That's called strabegy.

1st round picks are like bars of gold, teams very rarely give them up.

Just look at the draft, we are the only team in the NFL with 2 first rounders this year.

And with Jones completely in charge of the draft this year..and with all these wild scenarios flying about what he will do with them..it gives you pause.

I'm actually pretty worried about what these two draft picks are going to bring before it's all over.

I keep hearing reports that there are only about 22 or so 1st round pick players out there and then everybody else is really 2nd rd material from there.

Which means if we have certain players targeted for our picks and they are not there..

..I'm afraid we are going to be in for a crap shoot with picks #22 and #28 and Jones maybe forced to dump completely out of the 1st rd altogether trying to pickup more draft picks in the later rounds and the fans are going to freak..

..no matter what Jones says is the 'smart thing' to do.

or if the talent really thins that quickly after #22, any pick we make in the 1st rd if we stay there, is going to be heavily questioned as to his value and if we drafted them too early.

So I think you have to really think hard and long about any possible trades up if they become available and if there is a player they want to get in the top 15-20.

Or higher.

The absolute worst thing that can happen is that the guys we covet for #22 and #28 are gone in those first 20 picks or so..

..and we end up with a bunch of 2nd-3rd rd. talent as our #1 picks.

It's happened before.

Bobby Carpenter comes to mind immediately.

I like pretty much all the moves Jones has made with the franchise since BP left, but I still do not believe in his drafting ability yet.

This is a very big draft for us. If we come up with a bag of beans here due to whatever reasons, it's going to have a direct effect on the W-L record this year..IMO.

The correct decisions must be made at WR, CB and RB for this team to come close to duplicating it's performance from last year, much less improve upon it.

I think we all know what influence BP had in making draft day decisions.

I'm wondering how much Phillips has now..? I trust his eye for talent alot more than Jones'.

We'll see.

Everything I've read has the number lower than that.

..that they are going to be remaining in Dallas at a yet to be determined amount.

Most team realize that in the case of Barber, he's a very good runner but he also plays behind an All Pro line and some teams might question how he would fair on another team where the blocking might not be so crisp and without another Julius Jones to spell him for half the game.

As for Canti, hes not All Pro like MBIII is, so the giving up of a #1 for him would be a gift. He's not an impact player and he's at best not even a true starter unless you are playing the Phillips 3-4 with all the substituting that is done.

**I love them both, so I'm trying to devalue their worth to make myself feel better about their chances of leaving.**
