I like the two of them platooning.

I don't like the idea of Barber being used as a bruising full back. In addition, when Barber gets the call do we use JJ as a fullback as well?

Not a good idea at all.

barbers making a case for himself. They both use the same no-hole opening line, yet Barber manages to get himself 7-12 yards DF while Jones goes for 1-3 on the same run. I dunno anymore. I like em both, but Barbers running with a purpose and Jones is still running into the line and falling down. Be interesting to watch over the last 3 weeks and see how this shakes out.

barber looks for real! hope he works on his fumbling. kinda reminds me of emmitt, if we can get a decent oline then barber will be a beast next year. i like jj but he doesnt look the same as last year (ankle hurting?)

I like the platoon and depth too.

Tough choice to pick. that pretty long run by Barber yesterday...JJ probably takes it all the way, but, does JJ make it through the line like barber did?

If you go by who is performing then Barber should be the guy. I don't think JJ is 100% and should compete for the starters role next training camp. With 3 games remaining Dallas needs to be starting the best players they have and right now Barber is playing better.

That one run in the first half where Barber ran on right tackle and hit that big hole he should have taken it to the house. Instead he got caught from behind. It just looks like when Barber breaks through the line that he doesn't have that next gear. I am hoping julius can be our home run threat.

I think theres a reason why Parcells is usually giving most of the carries to JJ.

Pretty much everyone gives Parcells credit for being good at picking RB's. So let the man manage them.

Barber just has the look of a COMPLETE RB. He does everything well even though he may not awe you with anything.

He's a very good back and for now I believe our offense suffers when he is not in the game.

Agreed, which is why I don't think long-term Barber is a feature back.

But right now he is hitting the hole faster than JJ and staying upright on first contact. JJ seems to be missing holes, can't seem to cut back, and is going down to arm-tackles. He's missing the burst he had last year when he does get in the secondary too. Don't forget he was run down last week by Umenyiora as well.

I want to say its the injury, and probably right now that is most of it, but we were seeing some of this from JJ before he got hurt too. Maybe he bulked up a bit too much in the off-season, or is just having a bit of a sophmore slump like Newman did. Probably a combination of all of it.

Right now Barber should be getting the bulk of the work. Hopefully JJ comes back healthy next year and we see him return to his slashing ways, because when healthy he is a more talented over all player than Barber.

To a point, I think the "HR" threat is a little overblown. In a ball control offense, MB fits it to a tee. Tikki Barber is not the fastest guy on the field but he is a long threat. If he gets the whole, he will hit it just like MB. KC is ok with LJ and he's not a speed demon either.

MB has not had a whole game to just run. We have not seen him for a whole game exclusively where he can run, adjust and setup the opposing defense.

I like MB and I hope JJ gets back whatever you guys think he needs to get back but I think when you need to get the yards necessary, this year, I'm going with MBIII.

yeah, in a ball control offense you want a back to grind it out, right now im thinking barber is better at that, also better blocker and its looking like he is a better receiver too.

Im leaning toward Barber as the guy to be in the Offense 60% of the time with JJ used as a quick break/change of pace back on some screens, draws and sweeps.

I still like the platoon idea, just thinking that barber is fitting the parcells style of offense a little better than JJ.

Remember when the eagles had duce staley, and he would run for close to 100 yards a game on 18-20 carries and westbrook would add 70 plus yards on 8-10 carries plus another 50 plus yards on 5-6 receptions. Staley would run up the middle grinding it out, wearing down a defense, then westbrook would come in and run a draw for 10 or more yards or mnake a big play on a screen pass. when the defense was tired speedy/shifty westbrook would come in and gash them for big gains.

Thinking the cowboys offense could look like that next year with barber and JJ.

If Barber is doing more in the games, then leave him in there... Obviously he's doing better and not playing with a sore wheel. Julius this year, sorry to say, looks like Thomas Jones when he was in AZ.

There's no doubt about this: Barber outplayed Julius yesterday.

And he will continue to do so until the line starts opening holes. He's a better back when there are no holes or when you have to break tackles.

Keep in mind though, when BP needs a 30+ carry performance you know which one he'll go to. No question that JJ is far better suited to the feature back role.

Our final drive yesterday showed why Barber isn't ready. Instead of being able to stay in the goal line O, he was totally winded and needed to come out. Reminded me of Jamal Lewis. A big guy strong runner who has a small gas tank.

this "homerun threat" thing is being overblown. sure it's nice to have a RB with that added dimension but it definitely is not essential.
