Barber or Sproles?

I was really pulling for us to draft Sproles (pick #130 to SD) and wished that we had popped him instead of Barber (pick #109). I know BP says that he favors stockier return guys but Barber just seemed to plod along and showed minimal elusiveness. And then Glenn handles the last return and didn't look that much better. Furthermore, we already have the A-Train which seems to have a similar stockier build that would be our short yardage guy. Did anyone else think they same way as I do?

I just hope that TT will be a much better returner and that we activate him next week to give our ST a jump start like Sproles did.

After we scored getting Tyson Thompson, I really wish we got Sproles.

I wanted him in the draft in the 4th round, and was dissapointed when we didn't get him. I really hadn't heard of Marion Barber before, and quite frankly I haven't been too sold on him or his performance here.

Once we get leads against teams worse than SD (Who wont be beating us) were going to need 2 guys to spell JJ. We'll be pounding the ball

As a kick returner, I'd much rather have Sproles. He's electric back there. As a backup running back, though, he showed very little in the preseason. I think he was barely able to maintain a 2.0-something yard average and had a lot of Chargers fans asking if he was a good selection.

We were drafting RB's not return men. Barber is/will be a better NFL RB. It is that simple. Barber probably isn't the best returnman we have, Thompson is.

I look at this the opposite way. Since we got Thompson we really didn't need Sproles. Thompson seems to be a larger version of Sproles rather than a comp for Barber but I can see your point.

I'm not ready to write of Barber after one game. I'm also not ready to put Sproules in the Hall of Fame. Sproules thought does seem to have a kinda stocky body Parcells likes.

Sproles is a real threat, looks like he will be a super return guy. I would love to have him, but not at the expense of Barber.
