Alabama center Barrett Jones received a lot of attention the past few seasons. He has been a regular All-American at guard, left tackle and center while winning the Outland Trophy in 2011 and Rimington Trophy in 2012. He helped pave the way for a rushing offense that won three national championships in four years. He is one of the most decorated and accomplished offensive linemen in the history of college football.

At the end of the season, however, Jones sustained a lisfranc injury against Georgia in the SEC Championship. He finished that outing and played with it versus Notre Dame in the BCS National Championship. The injury prevented Jones from playing at the Senior Bowl and participating in the NFL Scouting Combine. Many in the NFL regard Jones' malady as more complex to come back from than a simple break.

Scouts told BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1 that their teams believe Jones won't be ready for the start of training camp and will probably start out his NFL career on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list. Being injured and unable to work out for scouts has definitely hurt Jones' draft stock according to scouts.

Sources believe that the uncertainty about when Jones will be able to take the field is hurting teams' comfort with drafting him. Scouts said they believe that he could make it into the third round, but could easily be a fourth-round pick.

At least this hopefully can put to bed the 87 percent of mocks on here that have us taking him in the 2nd. Thank God

Say what you want about Jones and his ceiling in the NFL, but 4th round is a no brainer. He's got the smarts and technique to be a successful NFL center, maybe not pro bowl caliber but a starter.

Yeah, a reasonable value pick in the fourth round.

It was unpopular, but I said months ago that Jones wasn't close to being a top NFL line prospect. I hate he had the injury, but he will be picked closer to where his value is now. All the talk about him playing multiple positions on a NFL oline was crazy. He will be lucky to play well enough to start at one. He could eaeily be a career backup.

Yep.. Guy is getting boosted up for being "RKG" and being a "Winner".. We can't afford to be drafting guys where we are trading personality for talent

He is a far better player than the following scrubs: Costa, Cook, Kowalski and probably Bernie. I'd have no problem taking him in the 4th, look at some of the stiffs they have drafted in the 4th in recent times. That is one of biggest problems with this team, hitting on mid round picks. I think he has Jeff Saturday type career. Still rather have Schwenke in the 3rd though.

I think he offers value in the late 3rd or 4th round. At his best, he can be solid. At his worst, a solid backup. He is a good kid. He just has some physical limitations.

I like him fine in the 4th.. Just not in the 2nd which is where most people on this forum seem to want him.. I think he is a 4th round talent with great intagibles.

This is great news.

As long he checks out medically, he's going to be a steal.
