Barron revisited

The Cowboys could use Barron, Kirkpatrick, and Upshaw. They can't pick them all.

I'd take Barron over all of them. Barron is Alabama's second best prospect behind Trent Richardson. Barron starts day one, and he would give Dallas a strong answer at safety. I don't see how anyone could argue this pick when safety has killed the Cowboys through the years. Dallas' current safety situation is underwhelming.

My preferences:

1. Barron
2. Cox
3. Gilmore

He has all the attributes of a great safety, and was the leader of a dominate winning defense. If he is there, take him. Surely don't want to see him in Philly.

I don't hate him. In fact I think he will be our pick.

I just do not agree that he is the direction we should go.

Since it appears to be a good possibility that Fletcher Cox, David DeCastro and even Dontari Poe could be gone before Dallas picks, who do you go with if you stay at 14?

I would certainly rather Barron be the pick there than Kirkpatrick.

Both Casserly AND Mayock have Barron as top 10 player overall in this draft.

Why does this BOARD hate Barron?

All I see are the youtube highlights so I got nothing else to go on. I see him as a day 1 starter for us. In fact I am not sure we will get a shot at thim at #14 anymore.
The biggest reason I like Barron is because the only play I remember even seeing Abram Elam in was when he got juked out of his jock in the backfield when he had a RB nailed for a big loss.

I personally would take Cordy Glenn or Peter Konz. I am not going to be swayed from my belief our interior OL is our biggest need by a wide margin.

He's actually the opposite of this. He's one of those rare playmaker types at safety. I'd say he's a once every other draft type of player at the safety position. People seriously undervalue this type of safety, and that's great for us.

Uh-oh. It's the kiss of death. Another Safety that Theo likes. :D

Here's hoping that Mayock and Casserley are right, and Barron is a top 10 guy.

I hear good things from the mock drafts and some of the "experts" but a lot of people I talk to and some things I read say he is good but not great, or not won't be elite.

If he can be a starting safety from day one and can be a good solid to great safety then I'm all for it because that is a big weakness for us and with the Carr addition, that secondary would be looking decent. I just haven't heard anything that makes him jump out at me but I haven't watched much video on him.

I'd love to get a good safety, finally and if we are convinced he can be that, guy bring him on.

I still want DeCastro over any other player that could be available to us because that interior O-Line has the potential to be scary, in a bad way.

We need a savy leader in the secondary to get them lined up so that when we're going into the fourth quarter with a lead Eli doesn't march down the field on us and score toucdowns to win the game.

For possibly the first time EVER, I must respectfully disagree with you Hos. Yes, the interior O-line needs upgrading, but the MOST PRESSING NEED on this team is shoring up ALL LEVELS of the defense. This offense, inconsistencies and all, still a averaged a decent 23 points per game. But, when his team needed defensive stops to preserve wins, they just couldn't do it. The Steelers, scoring 20 points a game, went 12-4. Why? Better D (well, in most of their games anyway).

Does Barron have the skill set like Woodson?

Leadership? Character?

If so...its a no brainer :)

I like Cox and Decastro better but I wouldnt be too upset with Barron.....

Trading down is a option....but I dont want to get to cute and target certain players when we trade down and then have those players taken ahead of us.

Hey, you can look at the statistics over the past 8 years and when we had Hamlin we had our best statistical games. Could be coincidence, or it could just be that I was right.
