Barry Switzer: OU football 3-time NCAA champion coach, Dallas Cowboys' Super Bowl winner

Great college coach, coasted with a dynasty in the NFL.

I give him his due in college football, probably one of the greatest recruiters in college history. He had almost 100 players drafted in the NFL from 1976 to 1990

But NFL?

Coach 501

Jerry Jones said 500 different coaches could win the Super Bowl with that team. He was referring to the 1994 season, not 1995.

During the 1994 Pro Bowl as the NFC coach, he was on the sidelines eating a hot dog.

Troy Aikman had to go to Jerry Jones and complain that the practices were too soft.

That team should have been winning for a full decade. Switzer had them at 6-10 two seasons after winning a Super Bowl.

Aikman didn't like Barry but that don't make Troy correct. Sometimes there's more than one way to skin a cat. Barry won and is a winner at the college level and Pro. Many don't like him simply because of this fact. I think he was a very good evaluator of his teams and understood how to win.

By the time 95 came, the talent of the team was steadily declining. That was the end; Switzer had little to do with it. With Green Bay and Denver on the rise, the dynasty was done.
