Barry Switzer: OU football 3-time NCAA champion coach, Dallas Cowboys' Super Bowl winner

Aikman didn't like Barry but that don't make Troy correct. Sometimes there's more than one way to skin a cat. Barry won and is a winner at the college level and Pro. Many don't like him simply because of this fact. I think he was a very good evaluator of his teams and understood how to win.
Troy wanted Barry to kiss his butt in college, Barry stuck with the bone. Troy got his feelings hurt...worked out for both of them.
Personally, I never liked the Bone, but I ran the hell out of the inverted Bone in short yardage, i even ran it out of the gun. Called it Diamond. Awesome....

Sounds about right . In highschool I played QB, we ran the bone. That was around 85-86. Only issue with running that formation is the hits the QB can take. Lol I had to make split second decisions to either hold it and run or give it, pitch it out to the back. If I was wrong, coach let me know . I respect Barry for using it and having his convictions. That's cool that you ran it as well. It's simple but very effective. Hard to defend. My HC in highschool was Rocky Ford. One helluva coach and man. He has since passed.

I did. I always thought he got a bad rap. Being put in a no-win situation he did pretty damned good. I would've liked to see him get some of that time that went to JG.
Same here. It's fair to say the guy maybe wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but nobody should question his ability and results. Respect should be put on his name. A scarce number of coaches have done what he accomplished.

By the time 95 came, the talent of the team was steadily declining. That was the end; Switzer had little to do with it. With Green Bay and Denver on the rise, the dynasty was done.
Switzer had little to do with anything, my point.

Dynasties don't die that quick without a push from some incompetent management and coaching.

Takes a different athlete to run it right. Imagine when the Selmon brothers played the 3 RB positions in HS. Luscious, Dewey and Lee Roy!!!!! Wow!

But you know what, his job was to not mess it up, and he didn't. A ton of coaches with their big egos, would have tried to tinker and fix something that didn't need fixed. To his credit, he doubled down ,honed in on what we do best, run the ball . I'm sick of this idiotic narrative that he's some joker that Jerry placed in here to be the hc. He actually rubbed players the wrong way , made a few uncomfortable, and MAYBE we needed that at the time. Instead of kissing butt, he was simply himself. After all, he was already confident in his ability because he had won a lot. Crapping on Barry might be in vogue, but it's way unfair. Even Jimmy Johnson praised the job he done in Dallas. Many of the Dallas players back in 94-97 said playing for him was a much needed breath of fresh air. Sometimes change is just what we need.

Salary cap killed the dynasty. Even Jimmy couldn't succeed with it as Dolphins HC. Lost his last game to Jacksonville by close to 70 points. Sucks
This. Bingo. No one wants to talk about that Dolphin game. But yeah, it happened. It was probably the main reason he retired. It was a huge blow to him. The team was out manned, looked totally unprepared, and yes, out coached. Marino looked deep fried. Salary cap is why we have never returned to the big dance, if we wanna be honest.

Moose Johnston said in a recorded interview that the last Super Bowl they won was despite the coaching, not because of it.
Maybe , but remember, they were very loyal to Jimmy, so the players would not view any new hc with much positivity back then. Moose is my guy but he was incorrect in saying this. Jimmy Johnson thinks highly of Barry and his coaching style.

Barry didn't stop the dynasty, the cap did. The clubs that learned how to manage it rose to the top, while others settled to the middle of the pack. We still haven't figured it out.

Man your right, I forgot about them boys. Selmon brothers were legit. Just good football players. No matter where you asked them to line up.

Only guy I recall was Clark Rhyne. Guy was a good musician. He was in her band early in the 70s I think. Dunno if that's the gentleman. I bet he has some awesome tales lol.

Nah, Chuck was a football coach and History teacher. He's in his late 70s now.. goes on a cruise, once a month. Enjoying life.....we'll deserved. I prefer busting balls on here, hanging with my 90 year old dad, wife, bugging my daughter and messing around on the ranch with my dog, cats and, of course, the cows. That's a great life for me.
