lol, Clearly, Dareus is the idiot here. He got a four game suspension because he "missed" a drug test which is viewed as a positive by the NFL. Either A) he put himself in position to fail it so he skipped it, or B) he is really that stupid to miss one.

As Jimmy once said, "Hit me in the head with a hammer the next time I want to draft a dumb guy"

Bart Scott On Marcell Dareus: We Can’t Put Your Playbook In Crayon

Now that Rex Ryan has been shown the door in Buffalo, Bills defensive lineman Marcell Dareus has criticized his former coach, saying Ryan’s scheme was “too much detail for a lot of guys.”

Bart Scott, who played for Ryan, couldn’t disagree more.

“That might sum the whole thing up – because that’s the guy that you gave $100 million,” Scott said on CBS Sports Radio’s The DA Show. “Instead of reading his play book, he was too busy lighting up. Are you serous? First of all, I’ve been in this system my entire career. Eleven years, I’ve been in this system. As a defensive lineman, you only have like four (or five) fronts. Man, if you can’t remember five fronts, I don’t know what to tell you, bro. We can’t put the play book in crayon.

I've seen that quote before, but when did Jimmy first use it? He drafted some dumb guys while he was in Miami.

Dareus never said that the scheme was too complex for him. He said for others it was too complex.

Troy Polamalu wasn't the brightest safety out there, but once he had Ryan Clark lining him up in the right position and letting Clark put him in a position to do what Polamalu does best, you had a HoF'er on your hands.

It's great to want to draft smart players, but not every player is going to be smart. Your best hope is to make sure you have smart players at key positions in your scheme and have players that are smart, hard workers in the film room that are leaders and can lead by example to the other players to get them to understand how to do all of the little things that smart players do. Do that and avoid the really dumb players like the Andy Katzenmoyer's, Tony Dixon's and Troy Hambrick's of the world and you'll develop a smart team over time.

Troy Polamalu's wonderlic score was 24. The NFL average is 20. So that disagrees with your statement about him being completely dumb.

He didnt say completely dumb. He said he wasn't the smartest safety out there, and that he needed Clark's help during the game.

I find this similar to how when woodson was here biscuit was a beast, always in the right place at the right time....but once woody retired, biscuit basically crumbled.

Clark is very smart, and articulate. Once I heard him as a guest commentator on ESPN and First Take, I said, "That dude is going to be an NFL analyst after he retired." He's THAT good.
