Bears safety, defensive tackle out for season

The Chicago Bears lost two defensive starters for the season during Sunday's 14-3 loss to the San Diego Chargers.
Safety Mike Brown suffered a season-ending knee injury, while defensive tackle Dusty Dvoracek suffered a season-ending torn ACL.
Brown suffered the injury during the fourth quarter of Chicago's season-opening 14-3 loss in San Diego.
Brown has only played 21 regular season games since 2004. He missed 14 games in 2004 (Achilles), four games in 2005 (calf – missed last four games of regular season and returned for playoffs) and 10 games in 2006 (foot).
Dvoracek was starting in the place vacated by former Bears DT Tank Johnson, who was released during the off-season after a series of off-the-field problems derailed his pro football career.

In NFC East, I read that Commanders OT Jansen is gone for 4 months.
We of course lost Ferguson and have issues with Ellis, Newman, and T Glenn
Giants lost Jacobs 3-5 weeks, Eli Manning a month, and Umenyura (sp?) 2 months - not to mention Tiki retired

NFC East is beat up. These are lots of starters. BUT, looks like Miami and now the Bears have the same injuries. So as Wade says NO EXCUSES!!!

Mike Brown has to be made of glass.

Everyone knew he was going to get hurt, the only question was when.

I believe Lito Shepherd has an MCL sprain-the Eagles seem to be hush, hush over it.

I don't remember ever seeing so many season ending injuries after week one.
Unreal.

Sucks for Chicago, Mike Brown is actually the game changer Roy Williams is always hyped to be...Unfortunately, the guy has an injury prone label he will never shake.

Chicago losing their 2nd DT only means the market gets more competitive to find a competent one for depth

BRUTAL: and sad too: see the Everett kid in Buffalo for that. Also, I just read Lito Shepherd is hurt for the Iggles: MRI yet to come.......unreal.

I don't think there is a latest...He has some time to decide on what course of action to take, apparently JJ has said he'll support him either way...If he goes microfracture surgery, could be end of career and at the very least, end of the season...Otherwise, he could simply be putting off the inevitable.

If I'm JJ, I have him do the microfracture surgery

didn't mike brown miss alot of last season also?

Yes-but frankly, that was a CHEAPSHOT by L. Neal on Brown-when Neal went out to block, he HORSECOLLARED him, literally.

I wish Goodell would take better action, like he has on other issues, with these things.

it's unknown right now, if he has micro-fracture surgery on the knee, he could be gone for 4 weeks

he says he could play now, but doesn't want to risk not being able to walk again
