John Mullin and K.C. Johnson, of the Chicago Tribune, report the Chicago Bears have agreed to a five-year contract with free agent QB Brian Griese (Buccaneers), according to a source close to the player. Financial details weren't yet immediately available. Griese is expected to supplant QB Kyle Orton as QB Rex Grossman's primary backup.

Good for Griese and Bears, bad for Orton. I know he didn't light it up, but the kid showed last year that he is a leader. They didn't put the ball in his hands, but he learned the speed of the game. Watch out for him in the near future, he'll be a quality starter somewhere.

That's my thought as well, Chris. This may be touted as a backup signing, but I bet Griese exits camp as the starting quarterback.
