CowboysZone DIEHARD Fan
But the Beard is a Pro Bowler. a full season and judge it then :)None of those guys are or were last season.

No question that Hardy is better, but we really don't know if Lee and Ro can't stay healthy. I am willing to see all three play to determine that later :)

I disagree. My opinion has nothing to do with past accomplishments. Witten was the best TE in football last year, if you don't just consider TEs big WRs. He is arguably the best TRUE TE ever. I would rather have Berny and Witten than Frederick and Escobar... This is just like the Murray/Romo debate from last year. Yeah, Murray may have looked like he was the MVP, but what combo would you rather have had: Weeden and Murray, or Romo and Randle? Again, this isn't even a "5 most important players" it's 5 best and I think Witten is better than TFred. If this was a "for the future" it is obviously a different discussion.

First, I appreciate your opinion. However, you're opinion doesn't seem to be supported by facts. Or maybe you simply didn't mention the facts to support your opinion. I'd like to hear them because your post is littered with subjective observations. For example:

2. You say Witten was the best tight end last year? How are you measuring that objectively? Witten's numbers fell short of Rob Gronkowski, Antonio Gates, Jimmy Graham, Greg Oslen AND Martellus Bennett in receptions, yardage and touchdowns. So how was he better than those players last year? Do you have some objective data to support your claim?

3. You say your opinion has nothing to do with past accomplishments then promptly offer that Witten is arguably (argued by whom?) the best tight end ever. That is an argument based on past accomplishments, my friend.

4. Here are the tight ends who made the Pro Bowl last year: Tight end: Jimmy Graham, Saints; Rob Gronkowski, Patriots; Greg Olsen, Panthers; Julius Thomas, Broncos.
Here are the centers who made the Pro Bowl last year: Center: Travis Frederick, Cowboys; Jason Kelce, Eagles; Nick Mangold, Jets; Maurkice Pouncey, Steelers.

Notice whose name is included. Notice whose name is excluded.

5. Just out of curiosity, please define what best means in this case?

I understand the sentimental attachment to Witten. He is a great man and a great player and should make the Hall of Fame. But based on the empirical evidence, he was not better than Martin. Now maybe he was, but I haven't been offered any empirical data that would lead me to believe such was the case for last year.

Demarco would've been 3rd on our list. The best running back in the league wouldn't be top 3 on ours?

Best running back in the NFL? I would take Lynch, AP, and Shady over him all day. Give me those guys behind this line and a record is set
