Beck offered to Cowboys

The Dolphins asked the Cowboys if they are interested in quarterback John Beck, according to the Miami Herald. Our View: The Cowboys did not answer, and it is clear that Beck is on the trading block, with Chad Pennington the starter and Chad Henne the No. 2 in Miami. Beck would hold no fantasy value in Dallas while backing up Tony Romo.

This is from rototimes. Isnt that the bad one or is it rotoworld?

Either way, I don't think anyone can be traded right now. This has to be old news.

Rototimes is the bad one, but this is actually true. We were trying to acquire him the same day we did acquire Roy. There was some speculation that they wanted Anthony Henry, but at the time Newman was hurt and Pacman was suspended. That would have left us starting the two rookies so we backed off. I think it might happen before the Draft.

OMG. Beck for Henry would be a disaster. Why on Earth would we do that?
This is the last year of his contract and they don't plan to re-sign him so it would be getting something for nothing. Henry is a Todd Bowles favorite.

The only way I could see Henry back here is if he moved to FS and took a pay cut.

On the Beck deal, I know some of the draft "experts" were high on him because of his physical attributes. Really don't know much about him other than what others have posted here.

I have to wonder if he has it in him to be a good player. I remember seeing a video of him singing .....ahhhhh I'm a loser baby.

I think that barring a pay cut, Henry is gone anyway.

I have to wonder if A beck/henry trade still happens...if draft picks will also be involved.

Let's just say when Jerry gets drunk he calls certain numbers that charge by the minute and talks with someone named Hostella.

IMO if Parcells thought so much of Beck that he immediately wanted to draft another QB and demote him to 3rd string, I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole. Parcells isn't as perfect as some seem to think, but one thing I agree with him on his is the "battlefield commander" mentality he wants from his QBs. And if Parcells thinks Beck doesn't have it, I wouldn't give a thing for him.

Especially Henry, who may be slow and not a top corner, but he's not that bad either and is still a useful player.

Jeez. This smells like giving away Ferguson because Jerry thought he'd get cute and play Tank instead. Or the OJ Santiago trade.

Hopefully this is EXACTLY the kind of thing Dan Reeves will stop from happening.

I thought Beck's attitude/character was the reason he was drafted so high in the first place.

Everything I've seen suggests Beck doesn't have much talent, every chance he's gotten, he hasn't just been bad, he's been awful. When Cleo Lemon outplays you, you know something is up.

Trading Henry for Beck would have been nothing for nothing. The only thing he has going for him is that he's young.

Here's a scouting report on the kid coming out:

Strengths:
John Beck has a quick release and is efficient in a short passing attack. Beck has adequate arm strength and is a good character person.
Weaknesses:
Beck has an awkward release, including a low release point at times. He comes from a shotgun based spread passing offense in college and will be forced to adapt to making more vertical NFL throws. He is older than the typical prospect at age 25.
Overall:
Beck has been effective at BYU, but will have a hard time being anything more then a backup at the next level. He is not the athlete many teams are seeking at quarterback and his age is a concern. He is good at making quick decisions and has acceptable arm strength.

I would take it in a heartbeat. Beck would be a competent backup with upside and Henry is burnt toast at corner in the last year of his contract. It sounds elementary to me.

I think Garrett wants to bring Beck to Dallas because he wants to spend more time with his son.

Wouldn't be the first bad decision he's made at the backup QB position.
