It does. But why??
1. No Romo. As much grief as I have the guy, you always felt he could carry the team/franchise to a win. He was our fallback. Nobody like that on the team anymore.

2. 2016 draft is looking worse and worse by the day. Some were saying it was the best in team history a few months ago.

3. This is the first time Jerry is refusing to get rid of the head coach who is an obvious problem. Jerry firing someone was always a little relief for a pessimistic fanbase. Now he's not even willing to do that. We are stuck with problems in the front office and head coach who is stubborn as a mule.

4. This site has always had a group of extremely optimistic posters regardless of how bad things got. I don't see them around as much to bring balance to the forum. Some are here but have changed their tune.

Actually 4 losses of 20 or more. ;)

Until the staff changes I don't know what we have to look forward to. I mean it's a blast watching Zeke play, and when Dak is trucking along that's fun too. But outside of that until Jerry changes, we won't feel any different.

I just can't trust the current FO and Staff anymore.
Yeah could you imagine if Romo was daks QB coach I mean that would be tits !!!

Between Garrett clapping, Marinelli scowling, Palpatin Jones still breathing, Zeke not eating anymore, Sean Lee returning to his wheel chair, Tyron Smith getting the cheese touch from Romo, Romo wearing the wrong uniform, Darth Goodell becoming leader of the imperial zebra troops, politics in football, and the Eagles kicking ***, I'd say I'm done with 2017.

I may become the fair weather fan we all loathe around here. Why not? Tune out this mess and wake me up when the Cowboys are good again. I'm not there yet but getting close.

This team and those running it have completely alienated me. As has the league.

To me, it feels different because the NFL is going down the toilet as a whole, not just the Cowboys. The NFL is no longer entertainment. It's a political protest platform and people are sick of it. I know I am. I have NEVER watched so little football in my life.....

I agree the NFL is going down hill.

I don’t care what or how people protest...free country. You can protest in free countries like America. That’s whats great about us.

I think the NFL is poorly managed and trying to suddenly make up for decades of inadequately addressing player safety and player conduct.

They also need to develop full time officials and work harder to make officiating less subjective.

I honestly don't think Jerry has it in him to start over with a new head coach. He's 75 years old.
I think he knows what it takes, and I don't think he has it in him anymore, that "hunger".

He's rich, successful. He's not hungry.

The reason for the depression is that we felt like we had a real shot at the playoffs if not the super bowl this year. The last 3 games feel like they came our of nowhere. Looking back we got whacked by a bad Denver team and beat some meh teams. But it felt like we were going to have a good season until the Falcons game. Then a big whack on top of the head for all of us. We are in shock :-(

Too much to overcome this year, zeke, Goodell, refs, Garrett, oline, dak, dez... Just feels off.

This will be a bit long, but this statement hit me wrong and I had to vent.

This statement is a microscope into why this team is so "off." There are too many excuses, and I believe the coaching staff operates on excuses. It's as though we are the only team with injuries, suspensions, beefs with Goodell, beefs with the refs, players off their game. Every team has some form of these problems. The difference is other coaching staffs know how to overcome the adversity. Other teams know how to plan and create environments that put their Existing Players in the best position to win. Our coaching staff needs a perfect team, with perfect depth, all 100 percent healthy, and no off field issues in order to function. That is a huge problem since that type of perfection does not exist. We may get close like last year, but the odds of this perfection sustaining itself is slim.

The problems we are seeing started to crop up when we got torched by the Broncos and the Rams earlier in the season with Zeke and Lee on the field. We were basking in the false glory too much to see it. Now the problems are in full display and we are surprised. But they were always there, and teams are figuring us out. What happens if Tyron Smith can't go for the rest of the season? He does not look good at all and I think he's still injured. What happens if Sean Lee needs 2 to 3 more weeks to heal? We all know he is a slow healer and he's been known to re-injure himself by coming back too soon. What happens if Zeke comes back from suspension and he looks rusty? There's only so much you can do training by yourself. This coaching staff has to learn to work around these things. They need to work through the adversity. But they have proven time and time again they can't do it. To make matters worse, I think the excuses are trickling down to the players and it's showing in their play.

Do you realize Philadelphia beat us without their starting all pro offensive tackle, starting middle linebacker, their most explosive running back, and their kicker on the sideline under concussion protocol? Sounds familiar? They still steamrolled us. The last 2 games Green Bay has beat us they did it with a depleted offensive line, a wide receiver converted to a running back, and with Clay Matthews hobbled. Now having Aaron Rogers helps, but they could have laid down too. Instead they came out and outplayed us.

I can go on and on with examples of coaches that overcome adversity. Look at New England. Lose Tom Brady for a 4 game suspension last year? No problem. They go 3-1 without him and win the Super Bowl. Quincy Carter is your QB? No problem. Bill Parcells wins with him anyway (and Troy Hambrick for running back) and goes to the playoffs. Tim Tebow is your QB? No problem. Denver Broncos rip up their playbook, installs a college friendly offense, go to the playoffs with him, and actually win. You see it all the time in this league. Every team has this adversity. It's what your coaching staff can do to overcome it.

Bottom line is sadly we are probably stuck with this coaching staff. I want Garrett and this staff gone so bad. I never wanted him in Dallas to begin with. I knew this kind of coaching would happen when we hired him. But if we are stuck with this front office/coaching garbage, they better start learning how to adjust and adapt. Or we will continue to see more of this mediocrity year by year, and we will waste the existing talent on this team.

No more excuses . . . .

Excellent post. I agree with everything you said. I'll add though...Garrett had as perfect a scenario setup for him last year with the Packers coming in with injuries and our team 100% healthy with everyone in the NFL raving about the locker room chemistry. We also had Leary, vets like Church and McClain and a motivated Claiborne...quality players we did not adequately replace. You had Romo available to help Dak during the week and in games. You also had a home Super Bowl waiting for you 3 hours south. 2016 was such a rare year, yet alllll of this was not enough for Garrett.

I am apathetic now but will still watch the games. Win or lose, I am supportive yet this season.....losses would not disappoint me. The last thing I want to see is a .500 finish, either win out or lose out.......nothing in-between.

I have made a conscious decision to not spend another dime on the Cowboys until something changes. This does not include my cable bill or Sunday Ticket

I feel like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day, nothing will change until our GM or HC is gone :(

I think the Elliott nonsense really turned a lot of people off. It was a load of shyte.

Sad thing is...they could do it all over again. That video of Elliott pulling down that girls top was a hell of a lot more damaging. Wouldn't shock me one bit to see the league go after him again. It worked once before..and this time...they have evidence.:banghead:

That is probably because even the moderation can't reconcile what is happening.

They are in a state of shock just like the team is.

Usually board moderation can steer discussion. And they will in times of distress.

Thankfully, there seems to be a laissez faire approach so far.

And that is pretty cool.
I was banned somewhat on how the board mentality was. It makes you angry fighting 10,000 homers.

It's just a huge letdown from last season. HUGE. From one of the best to one of the worst is never an easy pill to swallow. So... beer it is!

Well, a big part of is that most quality posters have left because CZ has turned into a shitposting trollsphere.

You can barely tell the difference between CZ and Eagles fans now.

My depression stems from the fact that no matter what this team does in the front office or on the field King Goodell and the NFL hyarchy has the deck stacked against us.
That's the risk of Jerry going after the king

What has me depressed is Elliot's going to come back , we'll be out of the playoff race but we'll win the last two games and Jerry will proclaim everything's right again and we're ready for next season.
