I like the idea of "whoever scores the TD kicks the extra point". I mean who wouldn't want to see RG3 run for a TD and then "stanky leg" the extra point?

If you got rid of kickers altogether, this would be a non-issue.

You need the extra points, or to change the value of FGs or TDs, otherwise, there will be a lot more ties. Plus, the almost guaranteed extra point makes a TD far more valuable because it means 2 FGs won't tie it up.

not if we eliminate FGs :p

In other news, the intentional walk is almost automatic, so why have the pitcher throw 4 pitches, just wave them on to first base....

This is stupid. The more that the NFL changes the less I enjoy it.

I like the idea of moving the ball to the 1 yard line for he PAT or he 2 pt PAT (teams would use probability charts and go for this much more.)

Don't change a thing NFL.

The people in charge just screw things up worse. Leave it alone.

Is that a rule for how the game is played? Or is that equipment change?

wow, you are one of those guys. I quoted you....in you're own words.... "The more the NFL changes the less I enjoy it"... Now what? Are you adding new stipulations to what you "meant to say"

Instead of just 2 points.........make it enough points so that going for it vrs a 99% 1 point becomes a every touchdown decision in a close nfl game---not sure where that point would be? 3 points enough?

You can't make the extra point worth more than a FG unless you change the value of FGs from 3 pts to 1 or 2 pts to up to 4 pts for over say 50 yards. You could also escalate the value of non-kicking extra points to up to 3 points from the 10-12 yd line or 2 points from the 2.5 yd line.

Eliminating the extra point in favor of only 2 point conversions would be incredible but the NFL would never have the balls to do it.

The almost automatic extra point would make more sense if two-point conversions were converted at a higher-rate. There's no real point in having a two-point conversion if it's used very rarely in the most obvious strategic situations near the end of the game.

That's why the best idea on that list is to move the extra-point up to the one-yard line. That would make going for two much more enticing. A team with a very crappy kicker might go for it more. More interestingly, teams with really good short yardage rushing games would go for it more as well. It'd be particularly interesting in the first season, when the conversion rate from the one-yard line wouldn't yet be known.

No, you are one of those guys who no longer knows how to process human language. "The more the NFL changes".... what was the CONTEXT for that statement? Statements are interpreted in a CONTEXT. Context = proposing a change in EXTRA POINTS. That is not a piece of equipment. That is a rule of the game.

Now, YOUR analogy = leather helmets without a facemask.... rule or equipment? EQUIPMENT.

So... I am talking about RULES that have to do with game play.... you are talking about rules or standards that have to do with EQUIPMENT. Apples and oranges.

Moving it to the 1, is the only one I could stomach. I think 2pt conversion rate is around 50% so moving it to the 1 would probably push it to a 70-80% rate and to the point that teams would opt to go for it unless they only needed 1 pt at the end of a game.

The drop kick never went anywhere. Its still perfectly legal, but there is a reason nobody does it anymore.
