Belt: Leonhard and Gannon are the front runners

I don’t know why not. He obviously knows Schotty and what bigger stage could you want to spring board your career towards a HC job? Fix this mess in all the prime time games we have and he’s a hot commodity.
i agree with this which means we will be looking for another DC in a year to 2.

we need a system. so we don’t have a revolving door. look at steelers and 49ers. coaches come and go and the system stays the same.

We have the system on offense as most of the other OC’s/HC’s have ran the same offense for Romo and Dak even it wasn’t there offense like Mike.

The D? They don’t even have a trait outside of loving cornerbacks

If Jerry allows the Giants to steal Leonard - this will go down as the worst of season in history.
Harbaugh picking your pocket and laughing all the way to the NFC title game with Broadway Dart.
Mike i know you giants jersey is feeling pretty fuzzy right now but... Leonard going to NY is FAR FROM OUR WORST off season, and your new HC has not gotten the SB fo several years with a far superior roster to what he has now in NY.. dont count them Giant chickens yet... Lamar couldnt pull him to a SB Dart may have trouble doing so..

I kknow more about the Cowboys & Giants than you could hope too.

Leonhard is / was the perfect fresh voice needed in Dallas.

Maybe but we lost Jimmy, and Bill P so i dont think losing Leonhard even compares..we let Sean P walk, and then we hired JG and kept him for 10 years thats just off the top of my head..all of those rank well higher than losing out on Leonhard.

Bad days for sure. I’ll never forget the day. Jimmy was out.
And I don’t care what anybody tells you back then a lot of people were indecisive on how to feel because people didn’t fully realize that Jerry Jones wouldn’t know a football if it hit him in the jaw.
Back then we were all under Jerry’s spelling that he was a miracle worker.
Don’t get me wrong it killed me that you left, but I was also a huge Switzer guy w Boz & CHARLES, Thompson, and machine guns at practice.

I mean, this is a bad boss Leonard. I’m speaking about from a perspective of having to deal with Harbaugh and now Leonard and he’s stealing him from us.

I was never a big fan of Bill parcels. I respect him more now. Fun fact his brother was my high school basketball ball referee for most games.

I still can't believe this defensive tackle group, that has been put together and pretty quickly as well. You would think that this would be a real draw from these defensive coaches being interviewed for defensive coordinator. The new coordinator needs to be able to have a say so in building around this group with his kind of players that fits his system. I also hope the new coordinator gets to hire his staff as well. Defensive tackle is the strength of this team on defense, and it looks like these players could play both the 3-4 and the 4-3 alignments. I hope Jim Leonhard is the hire, I want to see what he can do with Quinnen Clark and Osa and what this defense can become under his guidance.

Would someone be willing to share with me the athletic article on Parker?

Never understood this fascination with zimmer. Why? What's he done here? The Zimmer tree is nothing more than a weed that's been there so long that folks call it a tree. We need fresh ideas and messaging. Updated schemes.

Why would you would like to carry over anything from this year? Yea! We can carry over soft zone coverages.

If this is the hire, Dallas learned nothing from the Eberflus disaster.
Gannons defense has abandoned the Eberflus and Zimmer elements

The scheme for the Cardinals is unique to them. Jonathan Gannon transitioned to a Fangio-adjacent system when he took over as the Eagles’ defensive coordinator in 2021. One of his key departures from Fango himself was the use of Quarters instead of the Cover 6 (Stuff)/8 system preferred by Fangio.
Gannon worked for Mike Zimmer in Minnesota and then Matt Eberflus (Cowboys DC) in Indianapolis before moving to Philadelphia. Neither one of those coaches is seen as a split-field coach.
Zimmer is multiple, but static, and is known more for his double A-gap pressure package. Eberflus is a traditional 4-3 Cover 3/Tampa coach, again, nothing even close to resembling what the Cardinals are doing now.

If we end up with Gannon and if his Eberflus and Zimmer are

“nothing even close to resembling what the Cardinals are doing now.”

I hope we don’t spend a year trying to educate the Zone that he’s much, much closer to Fangio than either of them.

I know rage gives that dopamine hit, but there’s plenty to rage about that is actually true.

Where did you go to high school?

As far as who might be the favorite to be the next #Cowboys DC, @BobbyBeltTX said on Shan & RJ, “it’s [Jim] Leonard [Jonathn] Gannon at the moment, those two are the ones that seem to stand out.”

Bobby said some people within the organization, like Leonard and Gannon’s ties to Mike Zimmer and Matt Eberflus, “could play in his favor.”

Why? Well, that could maintain some carryover in philosophy while allowing Gannon to do his own thing.

However, it doesn’t look like anything to be set in stone, and minds are open to being changed with whoever comes in to interview, backing up their casting of a wide net approach

I swear if they ever pick Gannon put in on the Dallas Cowboys hate club. Why support a franchise when their goal is winning and seems satisfied with mediocrity?

I remember his "bend but don't break" defense. It was full of talent but he never really did anything spectacular or innovative. Its like a 4-3 with soft man coverage. It's lame and needs to be put to pasture.

The more I think about it the more I think we MUST got with a proven DC. Perhaps Leonhard will be great in time. Jerry says he wants to win now so why settle for an unproven commodity?
Leonhard is not unproven.
