Belt proves the Cowboys will be big spenders in free agency this year

I think at 82, having missed the playoffs twice, seeing Philly win back to back NFCE titles, realizing hes got about 2 more years on the dak window, having 2 first round picks and the ability to free up a ton of cap space....that Jerry is going to pull the trigger and go all in for real.

Hes got to know hes near the end and this is likely his last shot without lucking out on another qb in the draft.

Hate my post all you want, but if there was ever a time it is now otherwise he may not live to see a better chance
Your word in God's ear my friend! So you're thinking he's finally waking up?

As said in another thread, I believe it when I see it. But ok, I'll roll with that 0.5% chance.

I’m going to agree with Rambo in this case when it comes to Schottenheimer

This was a year when everything that could go wrong, did go wrong, except that Dak remained healthy

Jerry blew up the team seven days before the Eagles opener and did nothing for nine weeks to address the pathetic defensive line

Kneelands tragic suicide required an incredibly deft touch and a degree of humanity that not every coach ever has to deal with and Schottenheimer handled it like a champ.

The entire early part of the season was a complete circus with Micah and Jerry with his Netflix tour

Jerry saddled him with Eberflus, which was a disaster.

So, on top of just being a rookie head coach with a historically bad defense, he also had to deal with a lot of drama that was completely out of his control.

I think it’s absolutely fair to see what happens in year two before any judgement is made.
I agree with all of your points.

However. I saw enough in year one.

And I’ll explain.

Same penalties, same struggles in the red zone, and also now not being able to score in the second half and adjust.

Towards the end of the season we were scoring less, leading me to believe, the DCs of the league caught on to Schotty and his offense.

Don’t forget. Rambo was also saying bad things about Ben Johnson when I would bring him up in comparison to Schotty because his system hadn’t caught on yet.

Where are we? Where is Chicago?

This guy all season was saying we were going to beat up on teams the week before like Chicago, like Carolina, like Arizona.

He is incessantly spewing that this front office did good. Until they fail and it switches to . “What you don’t like the high draft pick?”

I hate people who take no accountability

Rambo thought the defense was good before the season. So that excuse doesn’t work for Schotty here.

None of the coaches I imagine you would hire would ever work for Jerry, Ben Johnson included

I dont think hes waking up, I think this is the best chance for him to wake up give the circumstances- history says my intuition is wrong but I just feel he's at a tipping point bc of the elements I listed

I dunno, I have a bay tree in my back garden and I regularly prune it back and then bag up the bay leaves / put them out front for neighbours to take.

You pay £1-£2 for about 20 bay leaves in the shop.
Are You sure You're Scottish?

Moronic take. We haven't spent money in free agency in well over a decade in any year and bringing in players doesn't equate to spending big in free agency. The sample size skews it and also when you have a new DC it usually means your D stunk and you need new players whether you replace the DC or not. Then when you have a year when you brought in new players you don't usually do that two years in a row unrelated to keeping the DC.

We hopefully will spend in free agency for the first time in a long long time but it has much less to do with a "new DC" than he is trying to portray. It's because the talent on this defense sucks, guys are out of contract and the owner has screwed up so badly now that the only way for him to try and reverse the universal sentiment of him being totally incompetent and cheap is to bring in more talent and pay $ to do it.

Last year in free agency on defense:
We bought back a backup in Fowler
We signed Sanborn to a barely above minimum deal.
We signed Payton Turner who never should have been signed and didn't do anything
Then we also had a couple trades (not free agents) that were total failures

That's spending big? Come on

Not the point im making.

I am making the point that people were trying to make Schotty look better by saying Johnson wasnt all that good.

He would for money.
No, he wouldn’t.

I mean, i suppose if Jerry offered him $100m over four years he might be just whipped into it, but Harbaugh would never work for Jerry without being paid double.

None of the elite no nonsense coaches would.

Gonna say 1 more year because the 2027 draft class is gonna be loaded with QBs. It's this year or bust IMO...If Dak can't get it over the hump now...he never will. Hopefully last season wasn't peak Dak...people need to realize that window is about shut.

This is all very logical. What you omited was that Jethro is making more money than ever and he does love his money.
No we are not spending a lot of money on quality players. This tiger is not changing his stripes. Everything is going well, hitting on all 23 cylinders, the bank account keeps growing.
