I would rather see Chaz Green start...

It amazes me that a few plays make that much of an impression on fans. Yes, Free had a handful of bad plays among somewhere around 60 total plays. On plenty of those plays, he handled Kerrigan with ease.

Maybe you've just forgotten players like Solomon Page and Torrin Tucker, who truly were human turnstiles.

I would like to see one series where he doesn't do something to set the team back. Just one series. If he's not giving up a sack....It's a QB pressure...that leads to an incompletion. If he isn't called for holding...then it's because he false started. The guy is a never ending drive killer. It's no coincidence the Cowboys went on their winning streak last year when he was put on IR.

On that blown up goal line play, Free and Witten were both *****-slapped...they were both horrible.

That sometimes happens when everyone in the universe knows exactly what the playcall is.

He's the last piece of the O-line puzzle that they have to replace.

I'll be happy when they do. It's why I wouldn't be upset about a RT somewhere in the first 3 rounds.

Then go back and watch the games. Somehow we managed to be top five in scoring last year despite this "never-ending drive killer." Your tendency to exaggerate is clear here.

Pro Football Focus (for what it's worth) graded out Free and Parnell almost identically last year. My eyes tell me that the two were similar in pass protection but Free was the better run blocker.

I believe Parnell leaving to become a starter shows that players at their skill level are valued by teams more than they are valued by fans.

Agreed. Free is no Pro Bowler, but you can't have 5 of them on your line anyway. Kerrigan is pretty good (better than Free at his position) and had no sacks and 2 pressures. Yes, one of them was a big blown play where Cassel couldn't handle the pocket. Free is definitely good for a handful of those a game. I'm not disagreeing with the thread so much as saying we have much bigger needs to address on this team.

I wouldn't mind seeing Chaz, but only after (if!) we get eliminated.

I think Chaz will have to beat out Free in the preseason to become the starter, even in meaningless games, and I'll be surprised if it happens. If he proves worthy of playing time, though, Dallas could rotate him in some like they did with Parnell.

why can't you have 5 pro bowlers? 4 are first round talents.

Free doesn't have to suck because of some quota, he is allowed to be good. he actually was once, along time ago when he signed a 4/32m contract and then he forget how to play.

Free has to play long enough to get Cassell killed so Moore can take over at QB.

Agree a bad few plays and the guy sucks, Imo he actually played well. People should re-watch entire game focusing on the player they are criticizing and maybe they would have a different perception.

You guys are blowing up things out of proportion with Doug Free. Other then a few bad plays he actually was steady look at the game again.

Free has been pretty bad since he signed his deal. He is 100% dependent on technique and it has been off since switching back and forth from RT to LT to RT.
