Bengals' Henry cited on traffic charges

Associated Press
Posted: 28 minutes ago

CINCINNATI (AP) - Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry, already facing possible NFL punishment for problems with the law, has been cited by Cincinnati police on three traffic charges including driving with a suspended license.

Henry also was ticketed for an alleged improper turn and seat belt violation. His vehicle was impounded after he was stopped March 21, and he paid $100 to retrieve it Monday, court records show. Court action is pending.

Bengals spokesman Jack Brennan released a statement Tuesday from the team that said, "While the incident involved a minor traffic matter, the club is frustrated that the issue arose at all. ... Chris' overall future with our team can be determined only after this and other pending matters are resolved by the NFL."

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said this week that a tougher player conduct policy should be in place before the April 28-29 draft. Henry, suspended for two games by the NFL last season, could face more punishment after settling the last of his earlier four court cases by serving two days in Kenton County (Ky.) jail in January.

That was for letting minors drink in a hotel room he had rented. Henry is among nine Bengals players arrested in less than a year. He had four arrests in 14 months, including marijuana possession, a weapon charge, and a drunken-driving count that resulted in a guilty plea to reckless operation of a vehicle.

Maybe him and PacThug will wise up and change their ways and become good Cowboy players? JJ has been known for giving thugs a second chance and they are very talented players that could help the Boyz win a SB.

I just thought I would beat CrazyCowboy and RealCowboyFan to the punch...

Carry on...

Driving with a suspended license is a very common offense. Often times courts will not even tell you that they've suspended your license. There's no way you'll even know unless you just randomly call the DMV to check.

True story: I got a ticket in another county in which I never travel. I didn't pay it for awhile because it kept slipping my mind. I paid it late, with the extra fees, and asked them if everything was fine. They told me that everything was clear. What I didn't know was that they had my license suspended. I drove around for an entire year before I was pulled over for not using a blinker. I was arrested for driving with my license suspended.

Talk about pissed off.

Yeah, but now I get to tell people I'm a real tough guy cause I spent time in the clink, albeit it was only for about an hour until the paperwork was processed. :(

I don't know where you live, theogt, but, here in Utah if they are contemplating on suspending your drivers license they send you a letter for a 30 day notice...

Also, if you get a traffic violation for speeding, or something that you are not arrested for, they give you an envelope to send in the money...

Sounds like you live in an area where horse and buggy is still the norm?

I didn't get a letter because my license had an old address. I was in college, so I moved about once a year and didn't get my license changed every time.

I wasn't arrested for speeding. I was arrested for driving with a suspended license. I was only ticketed for speeding (and I think my registration or my inspection was out).

I had something similar happen, only an ex friend gave my name and birthdate to an officer after he was pulled over for speeding and said he forgot his License.

I got pulled over for riding a motorcycle without a shirt on. I had just come from a workout and only went around the block to cool the sweat. Suddenly I was in serious trouble because I had no valid current license.

I had to prove I was completely unaware of the ticket. Luckily for me, the signature was proven not to be mine. I still lost 125 bucks in court fees even though I was innocent.

Oh and 5 stars, that happened in St. George, Utah. So what you are describing is new.

Sure, but when I asked if everything was cleared after paying the fine they could have said something. I mean, for crying out loud, I specifically asked them.

Oh, Oh...another mistake! :D

When you operate a motor vehicle of any kind anywhere for as long as you need or not...take your drivers license...

Utah has changed it laws since then most likely...

I got a speeding ticket for going 45 in a 35 zone, got a ticket and and an envelope to send in the $85.00....

I grew up near St. George. If I would have seen you driving without your shirt off, I would probably have thrown rocks at you and screamed 'SATAN, SATAN INCARNATE!'

Just sayin'.

I once got a ticket for leaving the scene of an accident.

I got in a small bumber to bumper with some guy who couldnt speak English very well.

We agreed we didnt need to get the police involved, there were a million witnesses who also asked us if we need help or anything.

Very minor damage done, we exchanged information and went on our way.

About a week later I get a ticket and a court summons for leaving the scene.

It turns out the guy drove a couple miles down the road and THEN decided to call the police.

What I didnt understand is on the ticket there was all my information.

How did I leave the scene of an accident if the other party had my liscense #, address, etc. if I didnt cooperate and give it to him?

THe kicker, I showed up to court and the guy didnt.

So I had to go back again, about 10 total hours wasted and all charges were dropped.
