Best case scenario: Jones plays FS

Because that means that Scandrick, Carr and Claiborne are all healthy and signed and good to go.

I think with a pass rush, our best defense lets Jones ballhawk and lets our three veteran corners play better coverage because of a much improved pass rush.

In that case, who plays SS: Church or Wilcox?

Good question. Church has more experience, Wilcox has higher upside.

I guess it would come down to the risk factor. My guess would be they'd see even amounts of snaps until one established himself as the better option.

I agree with the premise that Jones beating out Wilcox for FS is the best case scenario for the Cowboys.

Collectively Church and Wilcox and, at best, below average in terms of pass coverage.

The only question is to whether or not the coaching staff thinks Wilcox may be able to improve dramatically in year 3. I have my doubts and frankly would love to see Jones starting at FS and either Church or Wilcox coming off the bench.

Even if Jones does play FS there will probably be downs where all three are on the field at the same time.

is claiborne a better CB than jones ? Is Jones a better safety right now than wilcox or church ? I want the 5 best on the field and i don't feel Claiborne is one of them.

I think the BCS is Wilcox jumping to probowl level play and Jones contributing at both positions, at this point I'd just be happy for health from the secondary.

i want :

Lawrence---Crawford--Hardy/Mincey---Gregory

---------- ----Lee----------------McClain
Carr --------------------------------Scandrick (slot) -----Jones

Church --------------------Wilcox

We play nickel 80% of the time.

Seriously.

He may. But I think if all of them are hitting their potential, then the best four DBs we have are Scandrick, Carr, Jones and Claiborne. And Jones at FS gets them all on the field. And it also means that Claiborne is forcing himself on the field, which is a great thing.

I would think Claiborne is........Claiborne is a 3 year pro....Jones is a rookie. Claiborne is in a contract year. I think the Cowboys are going to give him every opportunity to start this year. If he doesn't.....Claiborne must've fell off tremendously.

How much longer does Church have on his contract?

I think once Jones moves to FS if later this year even, Church will start at SS still, and Wilcox works his way to take over. Even if it's not until next year. As Church has the more experience right now. Can't see a switch mid season at both S positions.

I think the Cowboys have been clear so far, that Lawrence is the guy more likely to move inside on passing downs. Not to mention, I'd rather Hardy get the attention of the best lineman, let Gregory clean up from the left side in the nickel where his size won't be a negative.

Don't get too excited over Jones as I want to wait and see what he can do against our #1's. Fine and dandy to impress against scrubs, but lets see what he can do when it counts.
