In years past we have heard things like Costa will end up being a real player, Ron Leary can be the next best thing since sliced bread, Killa has the athletic ability to be a real force on the offensive live and Arkin has the nasty streak you want in an OL.

If the Cowboys organization was serious about these statements, wouldn't it be great to see these guys actually develop into solid, above average players with upside? I could see Costa, Leary and Killa possibly making a push this year and validating those positive prognostications. I hope the best for Arkin, but my guess would be that he would be the least likely to hold up his end of the bargain. :)

But if that happened, then Livings and Berny might become expendable, it would lower our cap number going forward and give us youth and upside on the OL.

one can always hope. But the fact that we have developed a grand total of only one O lineman in the last 10 years that went to the probowl; and outside of our 2011 first round pick do not seem to have ANYONE ELSE likely to reach that level; kind of makes it hard to be hopeful.

I would just settle for good solid starters.

It would be great to get a bluebird in the form of an interior OL. I'm hoping Pollack is here, in part, to work with some of these younger interior guys the team seems to like.

I have hope for Leary. And I think I'm probably the only guy on the board who still has hope for Arkin.

I think that might be painting with a bit too broad of a brush. :) I think that is a 24 inch wide brush you are using .... which is probably a bit too wide for painting anything smaller than a battleship. :)

I'm not sure you are the ONLY guy, but you are definitely in the minority. :) Then again, you MIGHT be the only one left with any hope left for him. :)

Best realistic case scenario is that our O-line is slightly above average and that eventually Leary starts over Livings, Costa or Killa over Bernadeau, and Parnell over Free by next season, mid season, if not sooner..

Travis at center and that's a wrap....

That's because I listen. He was never projected to be an immediate contributor. The deal was that he was going to have to get stronger.. Apparently they weren't lying about that.

I still have hope for Costa, Kowalski, Leary and feel if he can get healthy that Livings is average at least. With Frederick coming in, I think there is a chance to get three decents starters out of the group.

I honestly think TFred at center helps us tremendously.

Some of the young OLineman might be limited due to the other young guys on the Line.

If Parnell ends up starting on a Line with a rookie (Frederick), then the chances of Leary also starting is probably low or vise versa.

Facts are facts and until they actually do it this team has shown a monumental lack of ability to develope O linemen.

You're not the only one. I still have hope for him, but my hope is on life support.

I'd be happy if Leary is ready to start ahead of either Livings or Bern this year and Kowalski can be a backup to the other, and Parnell can supplant Free at some point in the year.

Do you think when they used a 4th round pick on him that they expected to get virtually no use out of him for his first two years on the roster?

You know, normally I would think that this thought process would be pretty sound, but this year, I am not so sure. They may just trot the best 5 out there and call it good. What good would it really do to wait? We might as well have them get started gelling and establishing some future stability and continuity rather than mixing and matching later on.

That is another reason I think Frederick will start at center now, even if we need him more at guard this year.

That was sort of the analysis on him from the beginning.

1A) Smith-Leary-TFred-Costa-Parnell

or

1B) Smith-Leary-TFred-Kowalski-Parnell

There would be some growing pains but I doubt it would be worse than what we saw this past season...

That's a good point. I think the OL is completely up in the air with the exception of LT. And not to bum anyone out but you are likely to see an injury or two on the OL including some in TC. So I think it's a good possibility one or two of the 'your' guys gets his chance to start at some point. The OL then safety are the two most unstable areas followed by the LBers and a little at WR.
