Best Defense to go with?

when we play the panthers wat do u guys think will be the best type of D to go with to keep smith out of the game?

Since we got Newman i think it makes things a lot less headaching.....(newmans faster, taller(5-9 smith, 5-11/6-0 Newman) and there pretty much equal in athlectic ability

1) i would use Cover 3....Have smith covered short on comebacks..n if they go deep Newman will be right there with him..n since hes not that big..i expect newman to make the play

2) have Henry F him up on the line in Man..with Watkins over the top...n Leave newman on Keyshawn n shut him down(henry can shut down keyshawn also)

3) do wat we did last year n Have newman follow him everywhere with safety help(they might know this n plan for it)

4)go in nickel play tight man Coverage...n send the house(yea right we'll never do that):laugh2:

A pretty basic Cover 2 Man or Cover 1 should get the job done. A Cover 2 Zone shell with Newman Man on Smith would be the nickel choice.

I say we go with a 1-6 Defense.

It'll confuse the Panthers like crazy, and think of all the LB's we can send blitzing. ha ha ha

Use Newman to shadow Smith with Watkins giving help. Stay in Nickel. The Panthers have a hard time running the ball. Jam at the line of scrimmage hard. Disrupt #89's routes. Leave Henry on Key all day. Safety Blitz two or three times in this game. Run Blitz on 3rd and short.

of course smith is just quick......but i think newman is quicker..smith just looks quicker..because he knows wat route hes suppose to do..newman just has to try n stick wit him

1) If we can get away with it, we need to play a 3-3-6.
2) We probably won't get away with it.
3) barring that, let's play a 3-2-6, using 5 dbs and a rover. We can let, oh, Bobby Carpenter play rover and shadow SSmith. Give him a *cough* love tap *cough* every time he crosses the LOS
