The best, IMO, is changing defensive scheme's from the 34 to the 43 and bringing in one of the few guys to run it that you can legitimately call a defensive guru. With the way offenses are getting adept at scheming the pass rushers into coverage and what the pistol does to the 34 OLB's, I absolutely think moving to a 43 was a terrific decision. I would much, MUCH rather have Bruce Carter having to contain RG3's running than Ware. It just makes too much sense. Now, both of the OLB's (Carter and Durant) run around a 4.5 or better and both have very good lateral movement and change of direction. They aren't pass rushers, but that's not what Dallas needs them to be. They are going to be extremely quick to the ball, and that's just what the doctor ordered against the pistol. Plus, they'll be much better in coverage which will help the whole secondary.
Now on passing downs Ware and Spencer can simply pin their ears back and go after the QB instead of having one of them dropping back into coverage.
I fully expect a big jump in the quality of the defensive side of the ball... and a really big part of that will be because of the scheme change.
A second place for the best move would probably be getting Justin Durant, who is a very solid player and exactly what Dallas needs at SOLB, for a very cheap contract. Durant is still young, is extremely athletic and active, and is a quality guy in the locker room.
As for the worst move... I'd say not getting Spencer locked up long term and not freeing up that money to help add another player or two in free agency. It's certainly not the end of the world, but they could have brought in an additional guy somewhere or signed someone like Sean Lee to a new contract if they would have been able to work it out with Spencer.
