Best QB in Texas

I was listening to my local ESPN radio affiliate today and the local guys were doing their afternoon show. Chip Brown, formerly of the Dallas Morning News is one of the hosts and he is at the place where the college football awards show is being held tonight. He was doing an interview with the Houston Cougars QB, Case Keenum. He was trying to be funny with his question by asking Case who the best QB is in Texas right now. Keenum immediately answered Tony Romo.

Now both of these hosts are dorks and they laughed at Keenums answer. They appreciated that he did not fall for the trap question and any comparison with Colt McCoy. They also they that it isn't true and Romo is not the best QB in Texas.

I just find it amazing how overlooked Romo is. Sure Tony has a few facets of his game he has to improve, but the guy is a good NFL QB. There is only one other NFL QB in the state of Texas and that is Matt Shaub. Shaub is good, but he is not as good as Romo.

You can't even compare college qbs to guys that are already getting it done in the NFL. Shaub is better than any of the college QBs right now because he is facing the fire at the highest level and like I said he is still below Romo.

I just got to vent sometimes. At least I changed stations after I heard this mess.

If Schaub can remain healthy for a few seasons, this may be a real debate.

As far as the college guys, of course you cannot compare them to guys in the pros yet. If I had to predict who'll someday be the best pro QB out of all Texas college QBs, I'd say Jerrod Johnson is the guy.

this brings to mind a comment made by Troy Aikman

Well if he was truly an elite QB he would have "willed" his team to more than 5 victories. ;)

(expressing my disgust of that term)

True. Only Elite QBs can lead their teams to more victories. I heard Elite QBs even play CB on some defensive series in order to keep the defense from breaking down....:

Pretty stats in Sept through November must now be the criteria for excellence at the quarterback position.

I was never much of a Danny White fan and his also-ran status.

After the Giant's game I saw posts on several boards expressing the sentiment that you cannot blame Tony for this loss.

So the yardstick is now not wins and losses but how well Romo played.

Sorry, I take the losses hard and although Romo played a pretty terrific game, the team still lost.

I'd just like to see what the end result would have been if he hit Roy Williams for the obvious TD instead of overthrowing him by almost ten-yards.

But what the hey...Romo threw for 392-yards and three touchdowns.

I wonder if the City of Dallas is planning a parade?

So I guess the opposite of that is 392 yards, no INTs, 3 TDs but a loss. Go ahead and cut him...he sucks.

Romo is without a doubt the best QB that currently lives in Texas. Collegiate QB's are dirt compared to pro QB's, the difference is huge.

I think they're about even. Yes they're 5-7 but their defense is terrible plus they have to play the Titans and colts. It'd be interesting to say the least how'd the cowboys would fare in their division 8-4 wouldn't be first place.

Schaub is good, but not that good. He is not even close to Romo
