Best way to end QB controversy

Put the pressure on Romo to perform at a high level or you bring Dak back.

Jerry is waiting on Dak to struggle to set Romo up for a more heroic return.

We need to see if Romo can still play at a high level . Even if we decide to move on it will increase Romo's trade value in 2017.

If Dak flounders in playoffs without seeing Romo then the controversy will continue and they'll compete in training camp next year.

Worse case scenario ; Romo is done and we bring Dak back.

If Romo was to continue to win but still lose in playoffs then we'd be in a better position to make decisions for 2017 plus it raises his trade value.

Not necessary. Romo is neither as decrepit or fragile as his critics imply or outright state. His ability to play as a franchise quarterback is well-documented. It's a strong possibility that he would have re-joined the starting lineup this past Sunday if not for the admirable play of Prescott.

His ability isn't an issue for those making football related decisions. His current contract will factor into any trade, etc. strategies but not overly so. I believe the main consideration for any front office outside of Dallas will be projecting how many games they can get out of him and what options they can provide to maximize his longevity towards meeting their goals.

As far as Romo himself is concerned, he has probably considered how small the pool of available teams will be in 2017. He's endured a lot over his career. I sincerely doubt he will go to any team that has sub-par offensive linemen and skilled players. It will be interesting how he and Jerry Jones will work hand-in-hand to make his exit happen.

Best way to end it is don't bring it up. Team seems to be coping with all of this and I think the controversy is more with the fan base and a media who loves a good story.

I think there is a 0% chance Romo is on the roster next year. He'll either retire, be traded or be released

Traded is the most likely scenario but if he was to re emerge this year and lead us further than we've been this era I could see him being our starter next year,

It's a lot greater than zero. The bulk of the money that will hit for him is going to be there anyway. And unless we win the Super Bowl, there is no need to pretend that Dak is a better player because of any phony hot hand. We will be back to square one.

The Romo era is not officially over in Cowboys Nation.

It might be over in some fans mind but I promise you it's not in Jerry's mind.

Not unless Dak leads us to a Super Bowl.

I just hope the last game of the year against the eagles is a meaningless game ....... that way Tony can play the whole game and we will see what he still has left.

The best way to end the QB controversy (which there isn't really) is for Jerry, Stephen and Jason to come out and say that Dak is the full time starter from here on out.

Not happening.
What ? Being traded next year or finishing the season this year strong and being the starter next year ?

I agree now after yesterday's announcement the latter isn't likely happening barring anything unforeseen .

It would seem logical that Tony would be released June 1st. That would probably work best for all parties.

The best way to end the controversy was done by Tony Romo yesterday.

He ended any discussion of a controversy.
He just put to rest immediate controversy. If the Dak wave subsides its back on.

And it could be back on if Dak loses out early in playoffs .

This QB controversy will never leave us until Romo is no longer wearing #9 for the Cowboys.

And more than likely this offseason he will not be wearing it any longer.

I'm sure, even if Dak falters down the stretch some, that they're going to move Romo out this offseason and move forward with Dak.

Teams win superbowls. Dak is only as good as his teammates are.
