I think Winslow is going to be a very Shockey like player. Hurt a lot, and productive inconsistently. The best TE in the game is Antonio Gates, but Witten is a great young prospect.

In terms of overall Tight End, Witten is the best. In terms of athleticism, Gates wins.

It will be Kellen Winslow Jr.

Heap is now.
I can understand that argument, but I think I am right in saying eric johnson, antonio gates and Jason witten are on pace for having a better season than todd heaps career year...

I gotta go with Crumpler in Atlanta.

Witten, Shockey, Gates, Winslow and Heap all deserve props.

Not busting your chops S&T... but why does Winslow deserve props?

He hasn't done anything as of yet...

The others I agree with you on...

The soldjuh hasn't marched as of yet...

Only because the question is best young TE. He hasnt had the opportunity to show his talents on this level really. But from everything I have seen of this kid he will be in the group of solid TEs that I listed. Thats all.

It's the year of the tight ends, I bet if you look around the NFL I bet more than half of tight end's are putting up career seasons.

That doesn't justify anything. The fact of the matter is that they are having better years. It could just all be a coincidence. I mean, GOnzalez, who I always thought was better than Heap, is struggling to keep pace with the big four (that being alge crumpler, jason witten, eric johnson, and antoio gates).

By saying "Big Four" I hope you're not implying that Crumpler, Witten, Johnson or Gates are on the same level as Gonzalez.

Gonzalez has 5 less catches than Witten and twenty six more yards. He, unlike Witten, hasn't fumbled yet this season.

Crumpler has 35 catches this season...Gonzalez has 49. Wait...what were you saying?

It's not a coincidence, the Eagles and Indianapolis games last season changed the rules, those rules changed the game more than you would think.

Gonzalez is only 28...that is young for a person, not for a football player.

But yeah...He said Gonzalez was strugling to keep up with the rest of them and that clearly isn't true.

You might want to read the post I quoted.

Gonzalez is on a team with a crappy wide receiver corp too. So is Eric Johnson, that's why I don't include him in this argument.

In all honesty every one of these te has mediocre wrs next to them. BTW AJM, I did not know Alge crumpler had so few catches. If it makes you feel better, Ill concede that gonzalez is better than him. But the fact remains, Gonzalez, who has always been a better TE than Heap, is barely keeping pace with them. HE has the most yards, least receptions. I myself have always prefered receptions as it leads to more first downs and consistancy on offense. Now don't forget this argument started with heap...

Heaps career year in receptions consisted of 68.
Eric Johnson already has 57.

Heaps career year in yardage is 893.
Jason Witten already has 621.

Heaps career year in TouchDowns is 6.
Antonio Gates already has 8.

Through two games this year, heap averaged 51.5 yards a game. (im not implying it would stay like this, however)
The lowest yards a game anyone has in the 3 we are discussing, is antonio gates with 66.9.
