One couldn't be more important than the other, since they're the same thing, just seen from two different points of view.

Actually they could. They are not the same if I am understanding what is being discussed here. Points of Turn overs and points scored on special teams are credited to the Offense and charged against the Defense if I am not mistaken. That alone makes them different.

We're agreeing with each other essentially. Points, points, and more points.
Except for your defense, it's all about "fewer points." That's why a lot of people, myself included, were hoping defense would be more of an emphasis in this draft.

Very true post.

Yet, not true at all. Yes, many laughed at the signing at the time but the difference is that McFadden proved all of those nay sayers wrong last season. That's a pretty important part of the discussion IMO.

I really am just talking about offense and defense, not special teams.

But you can't ignore that the D is penalized and the O is favored statistically there.

Even if you are just talking about O vs D, I still don't think they are the same.

What is the point of this? I think I stated that while many fans did have misgivings about the signing, McFadden clearly proved them wrong last year. All this thread seems to affirm is that yes, a lot of fans were seriously wrong about McFadden.

Am I missing your point?

Nope ...... just wanted people to see the thread this thread was discussing.

The only team that won a SB was the one with the best defense. The point of the post was to show how you can't simply "outscore" your way to a championship.

Agreed. I believe there is a difference between Points scored and Points allowed. Not just in how you score them statistically but on the field. I believe in "Defense Wins Championships".

I did not read all 52 pages of that thread, once was enough. However, to me, the thing that I see when I look at some of the comments is how it actually proves the point that our OL can make the running game work with backs who are not All Pros. At least, that's what I take away from that.

Instead of making a counter argument you just post a thread made a year ago about what ABQ already acknowledged? Do you know how a debate works?

But I will say again ....... if our O-line can do that with mediocre backs ...... what would it do with a star?

I would rather find that out than yet another first round defensive back who can barely get on the field again. (see Byron Jones)

Its not a debate ....... that thread proves that what the OP said was true.
