Big Ern Sims

So did Jimmy Smith before putting up HOF like production in Jacksonville. Like Smith, Ernie Sims had been plagued by injuries.

Sims likely does not find the same success, but their is no doubting that Sims has more pedigree and talent than Joe Schmoe off the street. He will be better than Connor very soon.

As for not having 3-4 experience, neither did Sean Lee, Bruce Carter or Dan Connor before playing for the Cowboys. I think the majority on this board enjoy being negative just to be negative. The guy has yet to play a friggin down yet and people are tripping all over themselves to tar and feather a guy simply because they want to beat their chest later about how right they were.

Smith was an injury situation. Once he got healthy and on the field, he shined.

Sims had stuggled healthy at multiple stops.

I'm not attempting to tar and feather anyone. I'm just giving you an accurate take on his career. He is what he is. If he was something more he wouldn't have been on the street in October.

I agree with you mostly. However, sometimes people do change their lifestyle and level of dedication, and arrive at the realization that maybe they just got their last chance, ever. Either way, it's a low risk signing and one I'm not going to criticize.

Who has been a better blocking TE than him?

Even if we did make the pick thinking he'd be a weapon in the offense, i bring you back to the same point that no one can be expected to make a bunch of big plays with 2 targets a game. It simply doesn't add up.

Gronkowski is the best everything TE in football. Vernon Davis is also excellent.

The reason why Bennett never got any targets is because he wasn't any good. The Cowboys didn't scheme to keep him down.

Right. I didn't criticize the move. I said for this time of year you can't complain. He at least has experience in the league.

How do you gauge how productive a player can be without giving him oppertunities? That just doesn't make sense.

That's like saying Miles Austin was never any good before that injury that got him on the field because he never made plays until that point.

Bennett is getting a real oppertunity right now for the first time in the passing game and he seems to be doing quite well so far.
