BTW, the irony of this all.......if the Cowboys had beaten the Giants in that playoff game, Eli and Coughlin are probably out the door at the end of the season. But because they were able to ride that wave to the title, both are still around.

Late in the season, the fans and media were calling for the heads of both, and within a month, they were all going Monica Lewinsky on the Dynamic Duo.....NYers are so bipolar it is sad.

I wonder what our posters think when their opinions re: our probowl QB mirror those of the Giants fans on BBI. Frustrated or not, when you've got a competitive team, and you still can't tell the difference from your perspective and an opponent's, it's time to check your head.

I agree with the Gints fans. Jerry is obviously hurting for money. The Cowboys need a Superbowl to pull in the fans. They can't continue to have seats vacant during their home games and hope to make a profit soley on revenue sharing from the Giants, Eagles and Commanders. It hurts the other NFCE teams as well, cause no one buys tickets when the Cowboys come to town. They literally are giving tickets away for free in Washington when the Cowboys come. The only money they make is on concessions.

IF the cowboys had a QB comparable to Eli Manning, they would be alright as a franchise. Eli pulls in fans that can't afford to see the good Manning brother play. Eli is part of the First Family of football and people are eager to see him throw the ball away almost as well as Peyton.

Although his passer rating is 20 points less than Romo's, the truth is he can win without playing good, so doesn't have to. Opposing teams fold up when they hear the name Manning announced. The Giants can shoot themselves in the foot (or leg) and still pull out victories at home or on the road, which in some cases is both.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jerry is holding training camp in San Antonio as an attempt to find out if there is a solid fan base for him elsewhere in Texas, or if he should finally make the move to LA. He still dreams of having a popular sports franchise.

Unfortunately if we do flop this year, I don't see it happening. Too much money locked up. I could at least live with Garrett getting the heave ho, but it seem like he's a great deflector of blame.

Taken from the BBI forum:

If Romo and Big D flop this year
D_Simmons : 7/31/2009 7:28 pm

and if he doesn't win a playoff game again while fading in crunch time, what do you think are the odds that maybe the entire thing there comes crashing down? Big changes, cuts, Romo somehow being let go and Dallas literally starting over?

Dallas fans are starting to lose patience, Jerry Jones doesn't want to lose (even though he has no clue how to win anymore), and the media pressure is there.

If Romo and his Cowboys flop this year, any chance that entire team is blown up, especially since next year could be cap free?

If it does, it could blow them back to the Stone Age.

I think Jerruh will blow it up if the Cowflops don't win at least one playoff game this season.
Red Dog : 7/31/2009 8:21 pm

He dumped T.O. to make things easier for Romo and Witten, and dumped some other guys who were seen as not contributing enough, including Safety Roy Williams who was a top draft choice. Jerruh can use Wade Phillips as a scapegoat, but he is getting to the point of no return with his present core personnel, particularly the OL, and he knows it.

Plus, and there is no sugar coating this, butterfingers Romo is directly responsible for the last two Cowflop playoff losses with the dropped FG hold and the end zone pick by McQuarters. One more of these critical playoff mistakes by Romo and he's toast in big D.

Compounding the problem is cash flow for the new palace they will play in. The team couldn't sell the naming rights for what they needed to get, and they need to sell seats, particularly the expensive suites. Add the ineviable expenses from the collapse of the practice dome and resultant injuries, and the financial burden gets heavier. It's a lot easier to bear with a winning team, but the Cowflops haven't won a playoff game since Christ was a Corporal - or so it seems.

When the natives start getting really restless, and the media and the fans start calling for Romo's head (the first stirrings of that were heard last season) Jerruh will have to do something to re-energize the public relations machine and put fannies in the seats. Nothing does that like a shiny new QB drafted in the first round.

What it all adds up to is that if the Cowflops don't win a playoff game this year, Phillips is gone and Romo's days in Dallas are numbered.

Allow me to translate Mr Simmons' babbling.

If the Cowboys fail this year is there anyway Jones may lose his patience and blow things up in Dallas. I'm really tried of having to face Romo (4-1).

I can't wait for the day I actually care what a Giants fan thinks.

True. We have enough problems without worrying what G fans think.

I'm gong to laugh when Romo beats them, AGAIN!

Perpetual payback is on.
