Ok I'll start.

Baseball handle the black sox scandal swift and stern.

Football allowed the pats to be repeaters.

So, I would say pats. I think that's fair when you compare the two.

Ok... But...

Knowing plays and formations allowed offense to effect the game also.

Marty Schottenheimer stated in an interview when you played Dallas you know what they were going to do but executed it so well you really couldn't stop it. The Rams offense had so many options knowing the formation and play ia only part of it you still had to get off blocks, cover all their weapons.

They still had to execute. The Sox players just threw it and gave their team no chance.

I hear you both.... But....you know good and well that.... If you and I are out there and we know exactly what de or cb or whoever is going to do ... We are going to complete more passes.... Get more 3rd and ? Converted to 1st downs, or a running play because we know that the defense will definitely drop back into coverage etc. You can "know" your way into a "busted play"

No matter how you slide it...there is a benefit. Ask John Gruden.

I think if you did a nationwide poll asking opinions on NE letting the air out of a ball a little bit:

1) a major black eye for the NFL
2) a minor black eye
3) no black eye for league but worth some sort of fine
4) nothing at all...not even fineable
5) don't care/indifferent

#1 would get the least votes

that's my guess anyway

Agreed. But I was bundling their entire cheating history. It could back to 2001.

Are you serious? One team LOST INTENTIONALLY. The other under inflated footballs in an attempt to win. I certainly don't condone what the Patriots did but comparing that to throwing the World Series is ludicrous.

Take it easy manolo!

Did you have that post carefully crafted by Brady's lawyer? Using words like: serious, intentionally, condone, lootiqwis!

Shoeless Joe Jackson's World Series stats show he wasn't playing to lose.

Yes. And that's was portrayed in the move too!

I think he should be put into HOF posthumously.
His story should accompany his induction. His plaque should read as such.

At this point in time Yes. Patriots.
I am thinking why this does not get bigger play on ESPN or other sports stations.

Only to reiterate that there is "no new news"..... I swear they have done that's.... The new developments are that there are no new developments..... I was like what the heck????!!! Lol

Comparing intentionally losing the 1919 World Series that almost ruined baseball to a playoff game already decided on ball inflation - no comparison. QBs like Rodgers like more PSI, but it certainly does not factor close to players blowing a game. And the NFL is doing very well.

If Goodell was a competent commissioner, he would have investigated the Patriots over the years to settle all the conspiracy theories. I'm skeptical any team is able to systematically cheat for 15 years and gain a substantial point advantage (3 points or more.) This is just haters dreaming.

Reading is fundamental.

The question is which was bigger black mark. They do not need to compared to answer the question.

Want to try again?

You simply don't like my answer - that simple.

My answer is based on what was done and does not care who the teams were - just like judges and arbitrators do.

If it was any of the other 31 teams that did DeflateGate and had a similar recent past, my answer would be exactly the same - exactly. It already should have been clear I already said the Black Sox 1919 scandal was the bigger black mark. I'll add it's the biggest American sports scandal ever.

Oh Lord.

He took the money. That's all you need to know.

There's no way to prove one way or another what went through his head or what decisions he made on the field. But there is certainly evidence to suggest that he was complicit. He gave up three triples to his field during the series, which is (and was even then) pretty unusual for a left fielder. He hit .286 in the games they lost (threw), but .545 in the games they won (didn't throw). He had a homer and a two-run double in the last game, but the homer was a solo shot when they were down 5-0 and the double came when they were down 10-1. In games 1 and 4, where Cicotte was the pitcher and they were certainly throwing them, he went 0-4.

Given that he took the money, it takes overwhelming evidence to persuasively argue that he didn't participate in throwing the games. No such evidence exists.
