IMO the gap between Orton to Weeden is bigger and is a reason to be patient with Kyle. Having said that, if Orton does not show next week then he needs to be cut.
I'd much rather we cut ties with Orton, if this organization is serious about winning, then there should be zero tolerance for players like Orton. He's not committed to football, and he's not hungry for a championship(or so it appears), so why keep him? Sure, right now he may be a
slight upgrade over Weeden, but Weeden is actually working on his craft and could actually turn into something. Orton, not so much, he has zero upside at this point and will only regress.
And to answer your question, I believe the drop off from Romo to Orton is much bigger then the drop off from Orton to Weeden. I think Weeden can still develop into a respectable backup QB, he was really done an injustice in Cleveland IMO.
