The Eagles are the biggest rival. It is certainly not the Giants and Skins. I can't losing to that team and those classy fans of theirs. Let's just hope that the rematch on Christmas is a better game.

I can't stand losing to the eagles. For me, I'd rather beat the eagles than the skins.

In my book, a true rival makes me physically ill regardless of whether my team wins or loses to them. We have enjoyed an extended period of success over the Commanders, but that team still makes me want to hurl just thinking about them. I cussed and screamed at the tv yesterday, but I do that every game. The Eagles are a thorn in our butts, but I wouldn't call them a true rival.

I would venture a guess that most of those who feel the Eagles are a bigger rival are the younger fans who didn't grow up hating the George Allen coached Commanders. He personally built that rivalry into the most heated in all of pro sports.

Allen HATED the Cowboys and was obsessed with everything we did. He built his teams specifically to play us and sacrificed high draft picks every year to bring in guys who could help him beat the Cowboys.

The sad thing was that the Commanders only went to the SB one time under Allen and lost (1972) that was also the only time they beat us in the playoffs (whooped us bad that day though, 26-3).

I believe that Allen sacrificed team success in order to beat the Cowboys. They couldn't beat the 49ERs, Vikings, or Rams in the playoffs under Allen because his team was built for one purpose only, to beat the Cowboys.

We split the regular season matchups every year he was the HC but his greatest victory was his single playoff win over us in 1972. He used to crow about that game all the time too.

The Eagles have taken over as my most hated team/biggest rival and I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I can't stand McNabb...

I disagree. I will forever believe that the Commanders are our biggest rival. The Commander fans feel the same way.

Buddy Ryan and the bitter Eagle fans changed that for me.

i don't know how much meaning that christmas game will have.

Well, considering that Philly hits the tough part of the schedule late in the season. They are 1-1 in the division at this point, and no one is out of the race for the NFC East crown, I would say a late season divisional matchup probably will hold alot of significance.

Why? Rivals do change. The Commanders have sucked over the past 10 years. Now in the 80's it was them for sure. The Eagles have dominated the division over the past several years. Not to mention, torched us during that time. They are my most hated team. They have the worst fans and drink pickle juice! Seriously though, the division title will probably end up between us and the Eagles.

I guess you can say they are currently our biggest rival. But as a whole, in entire history, the Commanders are our top rival.

I think your best rivalry is built on hate as much as it is respect throughout the tradition and it's history. The history both teams have playing each other in this division is not matched by the Giants nor the Eagles. I don't know many Cowboy fans that hate the Giants outside of the New York/New Jersey Cowboy fans or how many people actually respect the superbowless Eagles in history. The Skins are a different story.
