How does this monotone bore of a man get the number 1 offense and defense in the entire NFL? How does he get his players willing to die for him on Game Day? He doesn't seem like he'd be a good motivator at all.

The Patriots are getting 443 ypg on offense and only allowing 207. Damn. Only one team in the NFC (Rams of all teams) allow less then 300 YPG on defense. Pretty pathetic.

It's simple

Dude is a genius, he treats players hard yet fair and lays it out for them. Players, Defenses and Teams have performed for him.

What he and Pioli are doing is historica and they may be looking at another SB run kind of like what the 49ers did.

Ironically we may be the only team in NFC that can pee on their wheaties at SB......

For the most part, the Pats players are class-act-they're low profile, they're focused, they're well-prepared, etc.

Tom Landry, Chuck Knoll and Bill Walsh were not exactly fire breathers either.

I think Parcells in retro only had sucess with BB running his defenses. BB treats his players like men and they respond to him.

In a twisted Way Phillips is more like BB than many believe. Players love to scheme and X and 0 up an opponent. Parcells was too conservative as a coach here - JMO

GREAT gm.....

The Pats have one of the best QB's in the NFL and that alone makes them very dangerous. Heck, they were dangerous before they added Randy Moss.

Just like we see with our offense... getting a big lead can really spark a defense and let them tee off on the QB as well as let them take chances to get turnovers that you normally wouldn't see them take. That offense with Brady to Moss, a very, very solid O-line and a good running game is awfully good. That means they'll get a whole lot of leads. Sometimes big one's.

It's at that point that a New England defense, which is already a very solid unit which confuses opposing offenses, becomes almost impossible to move the ball against.

Lil' Bill is so creative on defense and Brady is so careful with the ball, that when NE gets a big lead, you are in trouble.

In past year's they've had a good offense with a very good QB who doesn't make many mistakes and one of the better defenses in the NFL. Now, with Moss and a much improved WR corps for Brady to throw to... they've become a VERY good offense that doesn't turn the ball over much and can score from anywhere, anytime.

That is enough to push their defense up to the upper echelon of defenses, if they weren't already there.

I said it during the draft... it was a mistake (by the league) to let the Pats (a team that already had almost made the super bowl last year) get Randy Moss. I knew Belicheck would get him to tow the company line and that the whole roster full of hard-working, blue collar players would influence him enough that we wouldn't see the Moss we all saw in Oakland. He's still ultra talented.

Look at it this way... Moss, when he was playing hard, was such a mismatch for opposing defenses, that he almost got the Culpepper led Vikes to the superbowl.

What's he gonna do with New England?

Wish we could have given a 4th for him.

Actually, behind closed doors, Walsh was a fire breather.
