The Pats have one of the best QB's in the NFL and that alone makes them very dangerous. Heck, they were dangerous before they added Randy Moss.
Just like we see with our offense... getting a big lead can really spark a defense and let them tee off on the QB as well as let them take chances to get turnovers that you normally wouldn't see them take. That offense with Brady to Moss, a very, very solid O-line and a good running game is awfully good. That means they'll get a whole lot of leads. Sometimes big one's.
It's at that point that a New England defense, which is already a very solid unit which confuses opposing offenses, becomes almost impossible to move the ball against.
Lil' Bill is so creative on defense and Brady is so careful with the ball, that when NE gets a big lead, you are in trouble.
In past year's they've had a good offense with a very good QB who doesn't make many mistakes and one of the better defenses in the NFL. Now, with Moss and a much improved WR corps for Brady to throw to... they've become a VERY good offense that doesn't turn the ball over much and can score from anywhere, anytime.
That is enough to push their defense up to the upper echelon of defenses, if they weren't already there.
I said it during the draft... it was a mistake (by the league) to let the Pats (a team that already had
almost made the super bowl last year) get Randy Moss. I knew Belicheck would get him to tow the company line and that the whole roster full of hard-working, blue collar players would influence him enough that we wouldn't see the Moss we all saw in Oakland. He's still ultra talented.
Look at it this way... Moss, when he was playing hard, was such a mismatch for opposing defenses, that he almost got the Culpepper led Vikes to the superbowl.
What's he gonna do with New England?
Wish
we could have given a 4th for him.
