OK, well, at that point, you have to question why the head coach and FO went with Weeden instead of a stud like Mark Sanchez,

I think part arrogance and falling in love with his big arm. They probably thought with our OL and skill players, guy with a good arm can win us games. WeDone probably looks good in practice against a our defenders not trying to kill him like in real games

I think everyone in and around the NFL and the media, as well as all of the fans, thought Weeden was done when the Browns cut him, but Jerry was looking for a QB bargain just has he did in the past, so he grabbed him when no one else wanted him, just like Ryan Leaf, Hutchinson, Vinny, and Drew Henson. I had probably the only meltdown I've ever had on this site when I heard the news, but he's a Cowboy now, so I just root for him to do his best. After all, he doesn't decide he's going to play, that comes from above his pay grade.

Sanchez has 4 playoff wins to his credit. And I believe they were all on the road. Like I said, a much better game manager than Weeden. This is not even close as to who the better QB is.

Not only Callahan known for developing a good OLine, he is supposely very maticulous and detail oriented. You can have the same players and same scheme but a coach can make a difference on how they perform on game day.

Callahan is known to make players practice until they get their technique right. Maybe our OL isn't as prapared during the week as they were last year.

Callahan was the OL coach the last two seasons, but he didn't coach the OL. Frank Pollock was brought on board when Callahan was given the OC position in 2013. He turned the day-to-day details on the OL (technique, teaching, film study, running meetings, etc.) over to Pollock while he (Callahan) spent the vast majority of his time focused on his OC duties. In 2014, Callahan's title changed to "Co-OC, Running Game", and start OL had to allot a bunch of time to those duties. Once again, Pollock handled the detailed aspects of coaching the OL. In other words, Pollock was the OL coach in everything except title.

I believe the majority of the OL's problems can be attributed to mathematics. Five of them, going up against eight- (and sometimes nine-) man fronts. The only way we see any change in that is for Linehan/Garrett to take the wraps off of whoever lines up at QB, and makes them chuck it downfield. Until that happens, it won't get any better.

Yeah see if they would've got someone from the outside to replace Callahan i'd be willing to use the excuse of Callahan leaving as being legit........but Pollock has been here.

Because this joke of a staff and front office has never gotten anything wrong.

Sanchez isn't good, but at least he's shown he can manage a game and make throws here and there. Weeden cannot. He is absolute trash. Jerry should fire himself for not getting a better backup.

And yet we got it consistently last year, when they knew we were running it, with essentially the identical line.

When did "they" ever know we were definitely running it last year? As long as Dez and Romo were on the field, you could never assume any play would definitely be a run.

We didn't consistently have them last year. Defenses feared our pass as well.

It is not the same and some of you need to stop pretending it is.

From all the stuff I've heard and read, Callahan designed the OL/Run game scheme and over saw it. From what I understand he is very anal about his OLinemen working on their technique to perfection.

I agree it's a numbers thing with our very predictable play calling but seeing all the penalties and miscues from our OL on both run and pass so far, I think there may be more to it than that.

Jerry says its a thing of beauty watching # 3 throw the pigskin. I'm thinking Jerry was 3/4's drunk when he slurred those infamous words.

It is a combination of everything:

1. predictability on offense
2. no running game
3. no QB
4. no WR's
5. coaching, which goes back around to #1

Romo is what makes this team click and nothing else. He is the lone bright spot since those SB years and is the reason that we have sniffed the playoffs.

Bingo!!!!

But to put a finer point on it.....Go back and watch some Raiders O-line tape from last year...then look @ us now....see anything familar? Yup....can't run block. We have made some changes to the scheme.. And not for the better. This zone blocking stretch play that was our bread and butter last year...teams are blowing it up w/ penetration. Guys aren't sustaining any blocks...and we aren't getting any movement either. We have completely become a finess blocking scheme overnight.

You think thats is due to Bill leaving?

I get what your saying but Sanchez is better then Weeden. Can't really believe that someone is saying different. Every man to his own opinion though

Callahan is the best run blocking coach in the NFL. I was upset that we let him leave so easily. Then they let Murray leave without finding a replacement. Now they expect a RBBC to at least be similar in production to last year? Somehow the FO and the coaches just don't think right.

Washington averaged 2.1 yards per carry yesterday. I don't believe Callahan is that much of a difference maker.
