I am listening to Norm Hitzges interview Wade Phillips. I am assuming it is an old interview.

In forming one of his questions to Wade Phillips, Norm said Parcells said that the Cowboys should go all out to eliminate an NFC East opponent who they could meet for the third time in the Playoffs.

Wade Phillips said he didn't neccessarily agree because Washington could still make the Playoffs even if they lose.

Thoughts?

I wish the Cowboys would play to win, but even if they did play all their starters the whole game I don't know how much effort they would give. I'd love to see the Cowboys knock the Commanders out of the playoffs because playing a team 3 times in one season (which the Cowboys may have to with the Giants anyway) makes it extra difficult IMO.

Vikings play before us right?

If so and they win then yes I believe we should put the pressure on them a little bit harder.

Our offense is good enough to get a big enough lead that hopefully our 2nd team could hold onto for a quarter or 2.

I think my concerns are about the Cowboys and their own health heading into the playoffs. I would love to win this game but not at all cost. I hope to see the starters play about half the game but after that I think we see Brad Johnson and some of the other backup players.

I also think it helps the team to get some guys into the action should they be forced into a game during the post season at least they would have had a taste of live action

Bill Parcells never went "all out" in his 4 years here. He always played not to lose. Hypocrite.

Actually I think he played a little more open last year.

Not sure, but we still tanked towards the end of the season.

I am still PO'ed that we were not able to exploit a Seattle team riddled with injuries, especially the Secondary.

You know, the Secondary that featured a guy that was a Tour Guide a week or two before, as well as a guy that was a Loan Officer.

I am not trying to bash big Bill ..... I love the guy and everything he did helping to rebuild this team.

But for him to say anyone else should play "all out" is ridiculous.

Wonder how he would of reacted last year if someone would have told him in his press conference that Barry Switzer said he should play all out?

:laugh1: That would have been a great reaction.

Maybe it's not an old interview, because Parcells just said that Sunday in the pregame, right? I know that's when I saw him say that, anyway.

But as we know, that's Parcells' theory pretty much all the time. He always was afraid of a team losing their timing and sharpness. Just look at how he treated his final preseason games. Wade (along with many other coaches) rests everyone, while Parcells played the starters more than most coaches.

One thing that surprised me about Parcells was the way he looked at the big picture like this. Most coaches, Belichick most famously, emphasize one game at a time and never looking ahead. A problem with the Parcells way is that if you do play the Skins later, you've almost put doubt in your players' minds that you could beat them. Or at least, that this is going to be a tougher opponent than you could have had. I'd rather look at it like this: Bring on whoever we play, because we're the best team in the conference and we'll beat whoever's on the schedule.

He would have given that look from his Coors Light commercial.

Wow. That's a much more of succinct way of saying the old Bill-ism, "Give your team a chance to win going into the 4th quarter". You mean it was really Bill's fault and not the kickers? I'm stunned. *sarcasm*

If we can't beat the Skins in the playoffs then we don't deserve to play in the Super Bowl. If you can't beat Todd Collins/Jason Campbell how are you going to beat Tom Brady or Peyton Manning?

Ditto that Amen! I also think Wade is right: If all three (Vikes, 'Skins & Saints) lose, I think the 'Skins go anyway...

Good thinking Goin. Now you're starting to get it, unlike some people on this site...

The Game we played against the Colts was the only one where he did play all out.
