Trading back sounds good, but is there going to be a trading partner?

If Jerry Jones trades our two 1st rounders to Miami, I'm gonna flip a lip.

Why? those two first rounders are going to be in the bottom third of the first round. If McFadden is what he is being projected as, the idea of 2 bottom first rounders is insignificant. In fact, the probability of getting a more productive contributor from the second and third round than the latter 3rd of the first round isn't that strange....

Makes sense.

I wonder what he does about the QB position?

If I am rebuilding a franchise, that is the first thing I try to shore up.

I think Parcells' philosophy would say the QB is the last piece of the puzzle after you get your Oline solid. He will just get a decent veteran for the first two years.

The dolphins need a whole new team. Other than RB every position needs to be adressed. I don't want to deal with parcells. We need to keep our picks and not help parcells in his rebuilding project. What we need will be there in the late first rounds

there is no way parcells will take an OL with the 1st pick of the draft.

I wonder if he will pick an Italian?

I wonder if he will be more patient and draft one since he doesn't have to coach him?

I think he'll sit John Beck, and bring in a vet to hold-over and try to keep them competitive while Beck develops

TAKEN FROM ANOTHER FORUM: Parcells Press Conference

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bill was great as always. He mentioned the three things he feels are basic to turning a team around.

Player/talent acquisition
Talent development
Coaching

the main thing that stuck with me on this is that he mentioned having to be comfortable with the philosophy of the people he brings in. The first cog of "getting a personnel person (in place)" was in reference to the GM. I think he looked worried about that endeavor. I think this will be his first move and I think he will go after people he has definite familiarity with...like Ireland .

I'm not saying we will lose Ireland but as cantankerous as he is there is a definite charm to Parcells. I think with the help of some serious Miami schmoozing, Parcells will get the exact GM he wants.

I just hope Jerry steps up and pays the difference to keep Ireland here cuz I agree with Parcells the personnel department is the most important part of an organization.

has anyone ever considered that BP may try to go after Tom Cibizowski? whatever our head scout's name is? he's basically what Ireland was before he became our Ireland

My point exactly if Parcells, wants it that way then he should give up something in return for what he wants and according to most reports that someone is Ireland.

From what I've heard is that Ciskowski, would be a good replacement if this indeed happens with Ireland.

I think BP may in fact target Ciskowski instead of Ireland, a few years ago, Ireland was doing what Ciskowski does w/ Kansas City, before Jerry and Lace brought him over here

The parcells formula for miami(or any rebuild project really). He has done it several times and it works. I think miami will bear witness as well:

year 1:
Cut any super-high salary players

cut any players smaller than nfl average or not fitting typical body shape(parcells is big on size and shape)

with the high picks of your sorry team, trade down for as many possible 2nd and 3rd round picks as you can

Draft in this order:
1st round(if a pick is left)-LB or DE(easiest position to evaluate for non-bust in 1st round

2nd round-Several OLinemen, bigger the better.

3rd round-several dlinemen or LBs

4th round and lower-several project qbs, several project cbs

Bring in serviceable veteran quarterback who can make all throws and handoffs

bring in a veteran mid-level wide receiver

convert a long lean OT from college to a blocking tight end

camp and preseason, churn the roster and practice squad trying out as many players from other teams as possible.

season 1: max protect conservative offense and vanilla defense

season 1: 7-9

year 2:
trade down in draft again, but not as much
1st round: another LB, DE, or possibly RB
2nd round: more OL
3rd round: RB
4th and lower rounds: several project WR and CB

depending on O-line draft prospects, might necessitate signing big mid-level Guard or tackle to solidify line

camp and preseason continue working qb prospects coaxing out intangibles

figure out best dline rotation scheme

sign a veteran safety to help defensive calls

sign a practice squad offensive veteran from each of your first four opponents to spy and eke out a few wins

season2: 9-7

year 3:
draft: 1st round: Dline or Oline
2nd round:RB
3rd round:LB or TE
4th and lower: CB and WR prospects

drop off a few of the old parcells guys and rotate some of the new talent into those skill positions

camp and preseason: add new schemes suiting rotated in personnel

coach hard on pass blocking especially for RBs and TEs

open up passing game playbook

solidify Dline rotation(should have at least two star level LBs or DEs by now)

season 3: over power teams with size and physicality playing conservative still but much more passing

season 3: 11-5 playoffs

Basically parcells builds the oline first then two dlines, puts in veterans at skill positions until drafted talent can be trusted, and any stubborn issues trade or sign from outside. It drives fans nuts, but CB, WR, RB are almost inconsequential to the parcells plan. He just gathers a bunch of low rounders up and finds a few who wil do OK.

Did I sleep through "our season 3", because I dont remember going 11-5:rolleyes:

Noway Tuna gets 11-5 out of that garbage roster in 3 years. They have no QB, traded away their only good WR, no o-line outside of Vernon Carey, No D-line outside of 65 yr old Jason Taylor, pathetic secondary, and their stud RB keeps getting hurt.

Basically that whole roster needs to be blown-up, it is going to be 5-6 yrs min for them to even challenge for a wildcard in the AFC.:lmao:

As for as the division goes, maybe once Brady retires then can win the division, thats about all the hope they got:lmao2:

He'll have that team turned around in one year. He's already signed Otis Anderson and Drew Bledsoe.

11-5 may be too much to ask with the Pats and a Bills team that is getting better in that division. And the Jets might be good as well. BUT I could see him getting them to 9-7, maybe 10-6.

What four picks? Miami has the 1st pick overall, the top pick in the 2nd round and the Chargers pick in the second round then the top pick in the 3rd round.

They don't have four picks in the first two rounds. Still, it is 4 picks in the top 64.

Parcells is looking to gain multiple early picks, and also wants to avoid paying a high contract to a player who could very likely be a bust. The Dolphins already have four picks in the first two rounds of the draft, but likely will try to add more as they overhaul their 1-14 team.

Someone brought up a good question: Who's gonna be his trading partners?

Lissen, Fat boy is no Jimma Johnson.
If he thinks he can pull off a Jimma in this cap era, maybe he is headed to olderdom quicker than thought, and can retire in some Florida gated community.

Then again, he could bring in some of his former Giants players.:laugh2:

Parcells may trade down a few spots but that is about it. You don't pass on blue chippers.
