Slow news day as usual this time of year. Ran across this spot-on comment in the midst of a typical Bill Simmon's Mailbag. In general, Simmons is a pretty good writer if you're looking for tongue-in cheek-stuff.

Q: Enough about Barbaro. To quote Ralphie Cifaretto ... "It was a [bleeping] horse!" If he placed at the Derby, he'd be an anonymous Euroburger right now. Instead, he's getting the "President's colon" treatment. Can we move on?

By the way, I think Barbaro has replaced the Bonds home run chase and Clemens' comeback as the ongoing "major" sports story that nobody seems to actually care about. We're on a roll, folks! I found the jabs at ESPN and Werder in particular pretty funny.

Yeah I really enjoy his stuff. I found this quote pretty funny from his blog on the NBA draft:

The Mavs take Maurice Ager at No. 28. He puts his head in his hands and starts sobbing hysterically as his entourage congratulates him. It's about time we had some emotion tonight. Ager walks up to the stage in a triple-breasted, oversized beige suit, goes to shake hands with Stern and immediately gets whistled for a foul on Dwyane Wade.
