ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (June 9, 2006) -- The Buffalo Bills released starting left guard Bennie Anderson.

Anderson, who started 15 of 16 games last season, had two years left on his contract.
Buffalo signed him as a free agent after he spent time as a starting right guard for the Baltimore Ravens.
The Bills were unhappy with the five-year NFL veteran's play last season and attempted to replace him midway through the season with tackle Mike Williams before Williams sustained a season-ending back injury.
Anderson became expendable after the Bills signed Tutan Reyes this offseason, and with the emergence of Duke Preston.
The Bills also waived linebacker Greg Carothers and undrafted rookie free agent defensive end Matthew Rice.

Let me guess....as usual you think we should sign him

That wouldnt be a half bad idea. He could come for cheap and be the swing backup OG if Peterman stinks up the joint.

Yet teams have gone and signed some players like Jonas Jennings and Mike Williams to decent contracts, I'm not saying throw starter money at the guy but enough so we wont lose sleep if he flames out with us.

Depends. Is he a good player? In this case, I wouldn't want him. However, you can't just look at the team and say whether the guy should be gotten.

You could easily say, "Well, A. Henry was from Cleveland, so he must be horrible!"

But Detroit is?

Ohhh....I get it....

Detroit allowed just 30 sacks last year Which was tied for 3rd. The Lions may be bad but their OLine has been around the top 5 for fewest sacks allowed for a few years. Kosier allowed 4 sacks last year

Exactly how bad is Peterman? I'm optimistic with the offseason workouts he has been involved in we can see him on the field contributing some this year. But your take should be interesting.

If he's so good, why did Buffalo release him?

In this case I believe that this argument actually has some validity. He was not released for cap reasons or because he has been injury prone. And he didn't just become a FA because his contract ran out and he couldn't work out a new deal. He was cut (supposedly) for performance reasons and I don't believe that is really what we are looking for.

Let's leave it for Parcells and Ireland to decide. If tehy pass on him, then the message should be that they are more confident in Peterman, Rivera, Kosier, and Proctor.

well, Buffalo, of all places, didn't want him after 1 year, this is the same organization that stuck with Mike Williams ;)

yeah Peterman must suck.

most guys coming off major 3 ligament reconstructive knee surgery displace pro bowl OGs.

dude should have been starting last year. otherwise he must stink.

would not be the first time someone stank at one place then blossomed elsewhere. BUT I doubt it here. Buffalo was not much good last year, so IF they have given up on him then the signs are not good.
