Coming off an upset of Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, expectations for theOklahoma Sooners are sky-high heading into the 2014 season – just ask Blake Bell.

According to The Oklahoman, Bell was asked what his expectations are for the 2014 Sooners at a Sooner Caravan event in his hometown, Wichita, Kansas.

His answer: “National Championship.”

The 6-foot-6, 252-pound Bell, a senior, made the transition from quarterback to tight end this offseason. He started eight games at quarterback for the Sooners last season, but sophomore Trevor Knight emerged as the quarterback of the future for the Sooners with an electrifying 348 yards and four touchdowns in the Sugar Bowl victory.

OU will be in competition with Baylor for the Big 12 title and a right to get to the playoff. But I'm not sure Trevor Knight has turned a corner and become the next great OU qb after one solid performance against a Bama team with a penchant for losing to spread teams.

They won the Sugar Bowl and did every Saban hater proud, but the Big 12 saw Knight, and he wasn't the player he was in the Sugar Bowl against fellow Big 12 teams.

I do. And a penchant or not, it was still Bama. OU will take the Big 12, and Stoops may very well find glory once again. If their D gets any better, they'll have a shot at the whole enchilada.

honestly, save the one year they came out of nowhere and shocked the world, they've choked pretty hard every year since. Stoops is a great coach but their offense is so gimmicky its bound to have a let down somewhere in the course of a season. The shame of it was the year Bradford was setting records yet they lost of Florida. OU was a significantly better team that year yet lost twice (I'd argue because Murray was lost for the year in the second quarter of the Texas game). Oregon also has zero NCs.
OU winning it all, I find it about as likely as the pundits did heading into the 2000-2001 season.
The other shame of it is that I think some of the top Big 12 teams could've competed with several of the SEC teams in the NC games but didn't get a chance.
