Blake Bortles | Quarterback
Team: UCF Golden Knights

LATEST NEWS
RECENT NEWS

All indications point to UCF redshirt junior QB Blake Bortles submitting paperwork to the NFL Draft Advisory Board, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
Keep in mind this does not mean Bortles is declaring for the draft, but he likely wants to gauge where his current draft projection is. The Draft Advisory Board is usually fairly tame with their projections, however, we wouldn't be surprised if Bortles earns an early grade. He will earn a "poor man's" Andrew Luck comparison, thanks to similar pocket movement and vision. Dec 5 - 10:58 AM

UCF redshirt junior QB Blake Bortles completed 24 of 35 attempts for 242 yards in the school's 17-13 win over SMU.
The Golden Knights' quarterback added 31 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He displayed some nice pocket movement and vision to find open receivers, but Bortles also missed a few throws NFL evaluators would want him to make. UCF is not used to playing in the cold conditions like they faced today, but Bortles handled it well for the most part. If he declares, Bortles could be among the top four quarterbacks selected. Dec 7 - 3:17 PM

During UCF's game against SMU, ESPN's Brian Griese said some NFL teams believe redshirt junior Blake Borltes is the No. 1 QB in the country.
The statement is not as far fetched as it sounds, and Bortles likely did not draw a lot of early attention because many expect him to return next year. Many evaluators will see Andrew Luck-like mannerisms in his play, specifically pocket movement and release. Bortles has not announced his NFL decision at this time. Griese added that bortles is his No. 1 prospect at the position, with Johnny Manziel at No. 2. Dec 7 - 12:25 PM

He's interesting for sure. Big guy at 6'4 230 lbs but has pretty good athleticism as well. He's no Cam Newton, but he can maneuver around the pocket pretty well and pick up yards with his legs when necessary. His accuracy is good (not great... yet) and he has a big arm. Todd McShay seems to like him. Late 1st-early 2nd round talent as of now, although it's hard to determine where QB's are going cause there's so many of them this year. Just depends on what team likes who.

Anymore I like big QBs. Despite all the sissy rules, you really want a big guy that can absorb more punishment as the players on D get bigger and faster.

King: Fastest rising QB is Blake Bortles
132013.jpg

The fastest rising QB prospect in the draft class is UCF redshirt junior Blake Bortles, according to Peter King.

"I’ve spoken to a team that’s likely to have a top 10 pick, and they like him better than any quarterback in this draft," King added. The fact that the aforementioned team could be in need of a quarterback is an important point. Borltes movement skills and strength in the pocket are reminiscent of Andrew Luck and Ben Roethlisberger. He will wait to make his announcement until after the school's bowl game against Baylor.

He should come out. Everything I've read is that he's a 1st round lock, which isn't a surprise given his tools and the fact that QB's get over-drafted big time. A lot depends on UCF's bowl game against Baylor though and how he performs there on the national stage.

I have watched almost every game this kid has played and he has something to him that would make him first-round worthy. He can be a little careless with the ball at times and I really think that will hurt him at the next level if he comes out. He can gamble at times and he gets stripped for fumbles more than he should. I could see a rookie season with a lot of turn-overs while he realizes that everyone can play at this level. Having said all of that, man can he come through in the clutch. His best work has been with the game on the line and it has been amazing to watch.
