Blaming the HC, the DC, or even the QB is the real waste of time

We have an owner/GM, and whatever combination of his family you want to include, that does not have a clue how to build an entire NFL organization - from top to bottom.
Oh I think he knows how....... many successful models/franchises are out there on how to get it done. The problem is that building a championship team IS NOT his top priority at the point in his life. The gold jacket sealed that IMO.......I honestly believe now, Jerry just wanna stay relevant enough to retain the franchise's top financial value.

Just me and I have closely researched it, but it's weird how he seems to never WANT top head coach, offense and defense clicking on ALL CYCLINDERS during the same season.
Every time we are on the brink of a top offense, he sabotages the defense or offense by refusing to address a key position.

Top offense this season .......traded the best defensive player the team has had since DeMarcus Ware.

Well said J. The only reason I’m here is because this has been my favorite team since my dad took to me to see them play in the Cotton Bowl when I was a kid.

I’m here because I love the team and what it represents which is bigger than any owner or his kids. The Cowboys were America’s Team a whole decade before anyone had even heard of Jerry Jones.
I'm still here because my dad was a huge Cowboys fan and the first Christmas I remember I walked out of my room and there was a Cowboys uniform hanging from the mantle along with a helmet on top of it. I really wish I could turn it off because it's not fun anymore and it's embarrassing when people ask you who your favorite team is. I'm just tired of it all. I've wasted so much time and energy these past three decades with nothing to show for it. These games are not good for my health either. I'm just on edge, frustrated, I'm sure my blood pressure is spiked. That's not normal to get so worked up but I do and that's part of the reason why I didn't watch today. I glanced at the score a few times and knew exactly what was going to happen.

Watch Jerry live to be 100 somehow.

I have such Cowboys fatigue I didn't even bother attending the game today, 12 minutes from my front door. I used to move mountains to see my team play. The most recent Packers playoff game broke me.

I've made peace with the fact that I'll probably not see a Cowboys title run in my lifetime again. And if the FO doesn't agonize of this, why should I at this point?

Jerry is playing G.M. Dress up and pretend.

The Wade Phillips and Garrett years broke me. I haven't been the same since.

What if they made the in-game adjustments, key in on the run, and force the quarterback to beat them?

What if they made the necessary in-game adjustment on 4th and 3 to play press coverage instead of playing 7 yards off?

I believe the DC is very stubborn and refuses to make any adjustments.

Dallas wins with those adjustments so this is a coaching issue
We haven’t made in game adjustments since Parcells was here. That’s just something this team stubbornly refuses to do.

Good luck to you.
I understand that today was disappointing but Dallas is a few plays away from being a contender.

Now I must admit that the Defense is historically bad and the front office is accountable for that.

Until the Jones family sells the franchise, it seems like we are stuck in mediocrity.

I still have a lot of great memories as a kid watching the Cowboys in the 90s and I must admit this team is depressing.

I get the sentiment in that every year it's always something. But this year, the problem is clearly the defense.

Best offense in the league matched with one of the worst defenses in history.

Yes sir, that is the fundamental truth.

Some posters don't like it because it is unfixable. I understand their frustration, but the only real criticism directed at the coaches should be that they accepted the job.

Somebody always will. there are only 32 of those jobs on the planet.

If the Cowboys win a Super Bowl it will be despite the enormous handicap placed on the team by an amateur part-time wannabe GM.

It's why I keep saying at the start of every off season that you just need to ask one question, "is Jerry still the GM?"

If the answer to that is yes, then you know it will be yet another wasted season. The small details will change from year to year, but the overall results will remain consistent.

I thought we made some under DQ, but you are correct.

As Bob has correctly pointed out , the root of the problem is Jerry Jones. Until that problem is resolved, it will be like slapping lip stick on a pig

Whenever I (or many other Cowboys fans) point out the central and fundamental flaw in the Dallas Cowboys and why they struggle year after year - thirty years now - to become a relevant team in the playoffs again, I often receive some fiery darts, lol. It’s fine, it’s an opinion forum.

So first let me say. - Yes, I know the following:
  • Some Cowboys fans think Dak Prescott is the biggest reason we suck. Despite the fact that he’s playing at a high level and that he and the kicker are the only things keeping us from being 0-6. Some folks on here are completely obsessed with Dak to the point of outright trolling silliness.
  • Some Cowboys fans think the head coach Brian Schottenheimer (the 7th HC we’ve had since our last divisional playoff win) is another big reason we suck. Too early for me to tell.
  • Many Cowboys fans believe our defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus (the 10th DC we’ve had since our last divisional playoff win) needs to be fired immediately so we can then hire the 4th DC we’ve had in 22 months. And we may have the least defensive talent in the NFL.
  • Some of our fans think we just need a trade or two for another weapon on offense or a pass rushing specialist on defense and we can somehow become…relevant? It’s a bad dream.
Here’s my point: Whatever you think about the QB, the HC, the DC or any other player or staff member associated with this team, or whatever magical trade you think this team needs, none of any of that is the deeper problem.

The reason we suck, the reason you hate the QB, the HC, the DC, the defense…whatever you are tired of. The REAL problem sits in the owner’s box. No trade, new HC, new QB, new Coordinators…whatever. Nothing will turn this around until the oldest GM in NFL history stops playing with his toy.

We have an owner/GM, and whatever combination of his family you want to include, that does not have a clue how to build an entire NFL organization - from top to bottom.

So feel free to dream of the perfect trade, the next QB we need, the next HC or DC…nothing will ultimately change until something changes at the top of our organization.
I agree but if there's a plan it's over several years. This year wasn't to be competitive. It's a rebuild

You mean we're not going to the SB because we beat a winless Jets team. I just wish people would stop falling for Jerry's garbage. This is a bad Cowboy team. Even if we end up with 7 or 8 wins this team is going nowhere fast. Jerry's SB was beating the Packers and you've been scamed again

Bingo, he’s been the issue for 30 years and counting but he doesn’t care. It’s his toy and he will and is not going to hire a real GM to run the team.

And it’ll never change. I was at the ballgame sitting right behind the Cowboys’s bench. Watching Jerry and his entourage walk on to the field was a sight to see. The amont of kiss ***** that walked up to them was nauseating. They love every minute of it and with the stadium looking like it was majority Cowboys fans, they have no reason to change anything.

I will say that Jerry and company got out of there quick. I was disgusted and got a jump on leaving before they lined up for the last field goal to win the game. On the walk to the car the police escort was blaring and Jerry’s 3 suv luxury limousine motorcade was leaving the stadium. It was maybe 10-15 minutes after the game. LOL it was like the President of the United States was leaving.

Jerry and his family will never give up the attention and treatment this all brings them. We are simply doomed.
